[open] you can't count on nothin'
Who: Seviilia Brightwing and YOU
What: Multiprompt!
Where: A cave, in the mountain Range to the east of Suramar.
When: NOW
Warnings: Death Knight warnings
A. Stags and Owls and Bears, oh my!
[Its been a few long and quiet days, where Seviilia has spent the better part avoiding other Dragonsworn passing in the area. She had seen the Aspects traveling north, Deathwing among them, and wasn't interested in revealing herself until she was certain their business in the area had completed. In truth, she spent several hours contemplating whether or not Deathwing had already been clued in to her presence, without actually looking for her.
The uncertainty had made her tense, and a tense death knight meant bloodshed. Anyone wandering the perimeter will find a trail of various animal corpses right up to a singular elf, crouching half-stealthed behind a tree while waiting for another to cross her path. If the scent of blood doesn't give her away, the anxious shifting will.]
B. Suramama Mia
[Seviilia had chosen the area for its location near the river -- it meant there was plenty of life passing through if she ever felt an urge, and it also gave her something to watch that wasn't liable to attack her for being in its space. The downside, of course, was that it nearly neighbored Legion territory.
This could also be considered a plus, as it kept the Night Elves and most Dragonsworn away as well. But for the moment, it was a definite negative.
Its the sound of small feet scratching that gets her attention first, then the stale mell of brimstone. The knight's ears perk upward briefly, then lay back as she reaches for her axes to step out of the cave. Sure enough, a small scouting pack of imps bounces along through the trees, followed by a large (but singular) felhound.
Seviilia promptly retreats back behind the rocky alcove and narrows her eyes. They're following something -- or someone. Maybe its her.
Or maybe its you.]
C. Shake Rattle and Roll
[Seviilia has spent the better part of the day following the river as far as it will go, to the edge of troll territory. Though she is mostly certain she could take a handful of the larger, ancient cousins of those she is familiar with, she isn't particularly interested in attracting them to her position.
Constructing a barrier while she is still mostly clueless about these new abilities proves difficult -- not to mention the fact that she is trying to do it without alerting the trolls to her presence. Its possible that, while wandering along the river, you fall into one of the many pitfall traps she's managed to create by bending the earth around her.
Whoops.]

i guess this leaves me with B ... the one w the worst name
marduk has at least managed to throw off the demons for now-- it's definitely a temporary respite, he thinks-- having circled around and ended up behind them rather than chased. he's come up to the entrance of the cave, then, leaning against the rocks as he tries to formulate a more permanent solution.
it's hard to think of much; he's terrible with... whatever powers he might have now, given that they're not what he's used to. his hand bleeds rather uselessly in testament to this, if the word can even really be used here; with a curse, he turns to head into the cave proper, in hopes that it leads somewhere. ]
you mean the best name
The second Marduk dips into her cave, she grabs him and pushes him to the wall, instantly covering his mouth to keep him from making any noise that might attract the patrol to their position. There was no evidence that the blood wouldnt do it for them, but Seviilia isn't going to linger on that thought.]
You're going to get yourself killed.
um
temporarily. it lasts for maybe half a second before he's tugging at her arm, making a series of relatively quiet but very insistent noises indicating he'd like to talk now, thanks. ]
dont um me
Only you would bring a live felhound to my doorstep.
um...
[ at least he has the presence of mind to hiss rather than screech, even after all the offense he's just taken. marduk makes a great show of dusting off a shoulder while muttering to himself. honestly. was any of that necessary?
(the worst part is it's kind of true, though. the way he avoids looking at her-- not that it's anything new-- is the most he's willing to acknowledge it.)
eventually his gaze wanders back to the doorway, hand falling to rest on the hilt of his sword. any magical connection is long gone, but it still feels nicer in his hand than not. ]
And-- maybe you shouldn't have put your doorstep so close to dangerous territory? [ he raises an eyebrow, still not looking at seviilia. ]
looks away from you
It keeps people away. Usually. You may have noticed a pattern.
[She adjusts to peer out of the cave mouth again.]
We will have to kill them. You alone are easily a three course meal for that beast there with the antennae. It will find us eventually.
no subject
[ well-- no, it sort of was. just in a different way. he frowns at the word "kill," mostly because of the impending pain in the ass that's implied by it. ]
It's that dangerous-- why, exactly? [ because, in all honesty? the demons here aren't too impressive. admittedly, things are a bit different given his current incompetence, but even so the idea of them winning in the end was not a possibility that had ever crossed his mind.
now that seviilia has been kind enough to introduce it to him, though, he carefully moves around her in a way that places her firmly in front. ] Not that I don't believe you.
no subject
[She watches him move and brings her chin to her shoulder so he can get the full effect of her stare of judgement.]
Don't be such a bloody coward. In case you have forgotten, you are not the only one present comprised of a great deal of magic.
no subject
[ but he's not fooling anyone, least of all himself; he shifts uncomfortably under her gaze, which makes his attempt at pretending to ignore her disapproval all the poorer. ]
So-- [ cough. ] What do we do?
no subject
But if the felhound got to her first--]
If you can play bait, I can disable it, and then I can kill it.
no subject
[ see, there were a lot of things wrong with this plan. being in harm's way was definitely number one, followed closely by having to go back outside and also possibly being eaten by a demon. beyond that-- ] That's asking a lot, isn't it?
no subject
Oh dear. You don't trust me.
[Not that she blames him entirely. They had a lot to work on in that department.]
If you have a better idea, I am listening.
no subject
a shame, then, that he has nothing better. marduk jerks his head back, breaking the contact. ] Fine! Fine.
[ it's not really fine. he jabs a finger at her, more nervous than anything, voice shrill. ] Because-- you wouldn't actually let me die, right?
[ RIGHT?? ]
no subject
On my honor, darling. Not without good reason.
[Seviilia will shift her grip on her axes and immediately start to move in another direction. With Marduk playing bait, she'll need to flank them from the other side.]
no subject
I guess-- I don't want to know what good reason would be.
[ he pauses, then shoulders past seviilia to emerge from the cave again. he casts his gaze about the surroundings for a moment before casting another dubious glance back at her, waiting for an indication she'll follow. ]
no subject
[And then she disappears under the veil of stealth, and is gone from the cave in little more than a ripple of air. If Marduk pays attention, he'll notice the blue shimmer of her eyes and runes, as she hasn't quite mastered the ability. It seems to be more than enough to hide her from the demons creeping on the perimeter.
She pauses by a rock just a few feet away from the river and glances toward the cave mouth to wait.]
he's garbage. im garbage. im sorry
gods above and below, he hates being bait. he can see the demons from where he stands now, circling back around-- and he gets an idea. a warlock's magic has been difficult for him to acclimate to (his hand is testament to that, isn't it?) but he's learned a trick or two, and with a vague gesture one of the demons bursts into flame.
alas, the fires burn slow and seem to do little more than piss the imp off; marduk ducks back into the cave with a faint noise of distress. ]
smh
Its not until the troupe starts charging that Seviilia snaps out a tendril of shadow magic to yank the felhound to her, chopping off the tendrils as soon as it is in range. The beast howls horribly and immediately turns to try sink its teeth through her armor.
The imps pause in their charge, looking between the new enemy and the cave mouth.]
