[OPEN] The Redsworn Reception

Who: The Redsworn of Ruby Sanctum + Guests [OPEN TO ALL FLIGHTS]
What: Carolina The Redsworn have invited everyone to dinner! Let's see how well diplomatic relations between the flights can be improved, eh?
Where: The Ruby Sanctum
When: Forward dated to 6th June.
Warnings: Fires, food poisoning cooking for all, shenanigans, possible bad language.
OOC: Come gets some cross-flight CR! c: Some setting options below the cut, or go ahead and make your own.

A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS
Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE
The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

C: OPEN/MISC.
Choose Your Own Adventure! Just remember: wander alone at your own risk, non-redsworn, for the Red Dragonflight will have their eye on you.

Oh. Well that's annoying, but... I guess the mages are the ones who are suppawsed to explain efurrything in the furst place, so maybe he just figures it's not his job.

[She may have opened up Pandora's Box with this. Some places and worlds have histories, but half way through his explanation, she begins to wonder just how much history this world really has.

Still, she wants to learn and to know, and nothing is better than from someone who's lived in the world all their life.

She nods throughout it all, thinking carefully about this information dump.]
They stole the light and power from it. [Man, she doesn't like the sound of this story. Ans almost hopes that it wasn't in pain or anything.] Did it help? With the addiction.

You're probably right. They do have other responsibilities. [She's only seen Lanadormi once or twice, but she's always been a little nervous to approach her.]

What is the rest of your Flight like?

[Better than being a Blacksworn geez.

She can't let his words get to her, though his question is extremely hard to ignore. It reminds her of DiZ, and the statements and things he used to say about Nobodies. About her.

Namine shakes her head numbly.]
...I will do whatever they need me to do.
bloodpainter: (I don't think that's pawsible...)

You mean the sworn or the dragons? Beclaws I haven't met all the sworn yet, since there are a lot of us, and the dragons aren't very talkative.

"Who's to say? Heck, here on Azeroth we have a thing called the Curse of Flesh that's transformed numerous races into the ones we know today, like dwarves and humans and gnomes. There's a great deal more to who people are and where they came from than anyone would ever know just to look."

Wryly, he makes a round gesture in the air to indicate he's bring it all full-circle again. "Which is why I wouldn't think souls are limited by species. If I was going to guess anything, it's that we mortal races are all the same on the inside where it counts."

Oh, absolutely. Much better then fel energy did, which had its own problems. [He shuts his eyes just long enough to tap a lid with a finger. Guess what causes an evil glow!]

But Prince Kael'thas betrayed pretty much everyone, allying with the Burning Legion. When his own people refused to join in on his madness, his agents stole M'uru back, finalizing his corruption into a twisted shadow of the Light. At that, the Blood Knights realized they had walked a false path, and renounced their loyalties to Kael'thas.

[That is... a little unnerving. She's never seen glowing eyes before and looks bewildered at the sight.

But honestly, she's not liking that story. The poor naaru. She doesn't know the species, but being used like that and eventually succumbing to insanity.]

So he's aligned with the demons. What... happened to M'uru?
frecklebutt: (⚔ 11)

[personal profile] frecklebutt 2014-07-04 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd love to be home, but I think they can manage without me for now. You know, just for a bit.

[Puts her fingers on her chin and grins.]

They're capable. I think I'll stay here and enjoy the sights, if you get my drift. You can call me Ymir, though, if it pleases you to say that~
frecklebutt: (⚔ 2)

[personal profile] frecklebutt 2014-07-04 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
If a demon comes by, we'll just break its nose. You can break noses, right? I suppose if blood got on you, it'd blend in with that hair of yours.

[Because seriously man, look at that damn hair of yours, nicer than hers and everything.]

Exercise is good for you, and fighting is a workout. Don't you wanna impress the ladies? Or dudes or whatever.

[She ffs a bit and bites her lip]

Well, fine, you be that way, grandpa. If the spooky demons come by or whatever, you're on your own. Don't gum on that piece too much now.
bloodpainter: (Yeah whatefur.)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-07-05 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess that makes sense... Though I don't know what gnomes and dwarves are. But how can flesh be a curse? Or is it that your flesh is cursed?"

Given that flesh makes up most of a body (she'd know, having disassembled many) she shudders a bit at the thought of it being cursed. What would the curse even do?
seesbosscrotch: ('sup?)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-07-05 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, suppose one day trolls suddenly turned from flesh into linen. You'd probably be justified in calling that the Curse of Linen."

Mar, who had 'disassembled' any number of pre-Curse or unaffected creatures, understood perfectly. The trick was communicating it.

"The races left on Azeroth by the Titans -- the Earthen, the Vrykul, the mechagnomes, the giants, the mogu, the tol'vir, all of them were made of stone and metal, like great statues or constructs. The Old Gods who infected Azeroth deliberately destabilized their very existence... and whether gradually or immediately, they changed. The Earthen became troggs and dwarves, the mogu and tol'vir became weaker living versions of themselves, the vrykul gave literal birth to humanity. All part of the Old Gods' plan to gain complete control over the world they ruled."

[He hears something of that trepidation, and lifts a finger to interrupt her thoughts before he continues.]

One thing you need to understand is that M'uru signed up for all this. It volunteered. Everything that happened, happened in accordance with prophecy and for an ultimate good cause.

Which doesn't excuse what we did to him or make it any better. In the end, it was set in the Sunwell as a guard, to stop the heroes of Azeroth from breaching its inner sanctum and interrupting the ritual to summon Kil'jaeden, the current leader of the Burning Legion, to Azeroth. M'uru was slain, causing him to arise as Entropius, the void god. Which was then also promptly slain. [He chuckles a bit ruefully at Azeroth's brutal if necessary solution to most problems.]
wilder: (Sarcam - dude whatever)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-07-05 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If I wanted, sure, but you're probably better off just killing the thing. You can stomach that, right?

[he scoffs a little]

I'm not even your type, and your checking out my hair. I think I do well enough on my own to impress.
bloodpainter: (Surprising development!)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-07-07 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wait, so you all used to be moving statues? That's... actually that's kind of really cool."

She took a moment to ponder what being made of rock or metal would actually be like.

"You'd be really strong and tough, but... purrty heavy and slow, I bet. Could they even jump back then? I suppawse if their legs were strong enough maybe." Being a speed-based fighter this was rather important to her. "But I guess you weren't part of that anyway. Elves came furrom Azeroth trolls, right? That's what you said?"

[personal profile] rewritethesky 2014-07-08 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[That's... extremely unnerving, and Namine shudders because of it. Maybe she was just weak hearted (ahaha), but even going along willingly, agreeing to be used and corrupted, she still feels a little bad for it.

She nods though, still following.]

What happened after?
beholdthedrums: [EoT] (turn and tremble be judgmental)

no worries!

[personal profile] beholdthedrums 2014-07-08 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
So you'll die for them.

[His mocking is gone and he simply looks down at her with a serious expression. It isn't like he's never sent children into battle (though he put them into metal spheres), but...]
seesbosscrotch: ('sup?)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-07-08 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Mar nodded. "You see why it's called a curse. It definitely was a vulnerability, considering the ease with which Old Gods can corrupt flesh compared to stone or metal. And yes, I believe the histories and researches I've read that indicate elves descended from trolls after exposure to the Well of Eternity, although some if not most of both races would refuse to accept that."
seesbosscrotch: (approval)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-07-08 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, having slain their way through everything they'd faced thus far, the Shattered Sun Offensive and those adventurers who'd allied with it broke into the central chamber and beat Kil'jaeden so badly he was forced to retreat as the Sunwell shut.

At that point, Velen -- the leader of the draenei people and the Prophet who'd made the prediction about all of this -- showed up, and revealed that he had claimed M'uru's spark, his essence, basically. Using that, he was able to reignite the Sunwell, except this time its infinite arcane energy was infused with Light as well. We were forgiven for our sins, even if we may not have forgiven ourselves. The entire thing had been the naaru's way of bringing salvation to our people.

[His normal bombast has diminished quite noticeably, waxing thoughtful and faintly distant. He'd lived through all of it, after all, a mere few years ago, and he knows perfectly well that words are entirely inadequate to describe it all.]
bloodpainter: (Yeah whatefur.)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-07-09 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why's that? Do they not like each other?" Interspecies conflict was still a pretty new concept for Nepeta. Mostly because trolls had already systematically destroyed any other species they might have encountered until they met humans back home, and by that point "interspecies conflict" translated to "Karkat is yelling at everyone".
seesbosscrotch: (no)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-07-10 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"There are many, many different kinds of trolls, in fact. Zandalari, Amani, Gurubashi, the Drakkari... the majority of which are fairly hostile to everybody. But the Kaldorei did, in fact, smash two of their greatest empires, so it's somewhat understandable."

Hoo boy, Nepeta, Azeroth had SO MUCH to teach you about interspecies conflict.
bloodpainter: (I don't think that's pawsible...)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-07-11 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
"That is a lot! But what makes them so diffurent aside from the names? And who are the Kaldorei? Oh wait, is that the elves?"

She's not certain why there would be two different names for the same group of people, but context makes it pretty clear who he means.

"Most Alternian trolls are hostile to efurrybody else too... at least the adults are."

New -- [He stops himself short of repeating that word. He's pretty sure he knows what that word is.] Um-- um, no, you can keep your pants on... please. [Aaaand he's blushing now, momentarily forgetting their sad conversation.]

What's a... gryp? I mean, you look human enough to me. Minus the... wings, but I've seen weirder in Exsilium.

"Mostly minor physical differences, like skin and hair color, though of course the actual regions they controlled mattered.

"I think we're all glad you're not hostile, though. Would have made things particularly awkward." Especially in their first meeting, with all the chaos and fire and demons...
