[OPEN] The Redsworn Reception

Who: The Redsworn of Ruby Sanctum + Guests [OPEN TO ALL FLIGHTS]
What: Carolina The Redsworn have invited everyone to dinner! Let's see how well diplomatic relations between the flights can be improved, eh?
Where: The Ruby Sanctum
When: Forward dated to 6th June.
Warnings: Fires, food poisoning cooking for all, shenanigans, possible bad language.
OOC: Come gets some cross-flight CR! c: Some setting options below the cut, or go ahead and make your own.

A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS
Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE
The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

C: OPEN/MISC.
Choose Your Own Adventure! Just remember: wander alone at your own risk, non-redsworn, for the Red Dragonflight will have their eye on you.

A: KISS THE COOK

Maridian was many things and had many titles. Lunatic, Blood Knight, hero, annoyance, Crusader, Kingslayer...

Pandaren-trained chef. Master of the Ways. Or to put it more bluntly, one of his many skills was cooking with as much incredible proficiency as any person could achieve without making it their sole life's work.

The paladin maintained a vigil by the cooking fires, moving ingredients in and out of the heat and through pots or onto skewers with a casual and devastating efficiency. Berries became sauces for fish he'd caught earlier, quick-seared to lock their flavor in; bear steaks passed through the fire with dry rubs that sealed in their juice, simply and elegant; to the side, fresh bread baked in pans set on heated rocks.

As justified as you might be in questioning every single thing Maridian does, it might be hard to find better food than this.

[He had tried to help with the cooking, but it was with extremely mixed results. Some of what he helped cook might taste alright, while the rest of it either taste far too bland or far too spiced. If you're truly unlucky, you might even feel a little ill afterwards]

[Finally, he gave up and is hanging out on the roots of the large tree that the Redsworn claimed. He has a plate of food (mostly meat), but he doesn't seem to be eating at any point. Not that the food on his plate is going untouched, however, one might catch sight of him tossing a bit of meat to some red whelps when he thinks no one is looking. Or at the very least, notice that there's a number of whelps hanging around him like he's their new best friend.]

[Or maybe you don't notice that and just decide to say hi or play with the whelps. Either way, good times]

not even if it was a Feat of Strength

Vas takes some of the leftover bread dough and folds extra flour and mashed earthroot into it, working it until it stops sticking to her hands. Much as she appreciates that he's made quite a bit of food already, they have no idea how many people will show up. Besides, it's been a very long time since she last had home-cooked flatbread.

"So, this is Silvermoon cuisine?" she asks, glancing over at the seared fish. Somehow she'd expected that blood elven food would be overly extravagant, but this looks - and smells - more like an evening at the Halfhill Market. "I think I've seen some of the Pandaren cooks grill like that."

"I'll consider that the highest of compliments, because that's where I learned it!" Mar said brightly as he flipped a steak, looking for all the world like a dedicated chef who just happened to be wearing plate armor. "I've learned from the hunters of Nagrand, the chefs in Dalaran, and Azeroth's finest -- but no one, and I mean no one, has done miracles with food the way the Pandaren have!"

Her suspicious glance softens. Not Silvermoon cuisine, then, and instead something much more palatable in every sense of the word. She looks down and starts to roll her earthroot dough into balls, smiling slightly. A home-cooked meal was welcome, but a Pandaren-style meal is even better.

But that's not the word that sticks in her mind. "You've traveled through Nagrand?"
seesbosscrotch: (bashful)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-06-05 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Absolutely. One of my favorite places in Outland." Also the sight of one of his biggest mistakes in his entire history, although he wasn't going to mention that he'd personally helped to encourage Garrosh Hellscream to stop moping around and make something of himself.

"Uh, you didn't get into fights over control of Halaa, did you?" he said with a sudden, sheepish glance at the Vindicator. "I didn't often but I'd still hate to think we'd met before on THOSE terms..."
telaari: (What no)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-05 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Fights over Halaa?" she echoes, her calm expression gone as quickly as it came. Why in the name of all things good and holy would anyone fight over Halaa? The orcs would have burned it to the ground. There wouldn't be any reason to fight there, not unless he Warsong moved in to try to claim the city for themselves.

She shakes her head, dismissing his question as much as answering it. "No, but I traveled to Halaa many times when I was younger. I ask because I'm from Telaar."

"Oh! I've been!" Mar said with a bright grin, which faltered as quickly as it had come. "Once. By accident. It ended with me jumping off a cliff to escape. Complete and total misunderstanding." Namely. he'd thought the town was friendlier than it was... Had not made that same mistake again.
traitre: (❀ look he can be nice and happy)

[The only reason Qilby approaches first is that, unlike with Yugo and Zelda, he hadn't actually spoken a single word to Zelos before he decided to make him one of his little experiments. Of course, absolutely nothing about the man is important (save for what he was able to find out about his Blacksworn abilities by using him) but hey-- he's here, he's enjoying the right of hospitality, his four "friends" can only cause a scene at their own risk... Why not make a little conversation?]

They're certainly a lot friendlier in your sanctum.

[He reaches out for one of the whelplings, maybe to scratch it under its chin -- it briefly considers his finger and, after deciding he has no food, snaps at it with a little hiss. Qilby withdraws his hand hastily and forces a chuckle.]

Still-- a lot friendlier.
wilder: (side stand)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-06-05 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[He watches this stranger. Sure, he found out that a man named Qilby was the one to spread the lies, but- considering he had never met the man and had no idea what he even looked like, that didn't give him much to go on. He has no reason to believe this person approaching him has anything to do with the false accusations.]

[Still, he's watching with slight interest. Especially at the whelps reactions]

Yeah? Do they try to eat you guys or something?
wilder: (I'm just a weak lazy bum)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-06-05 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kaneis has been sitting on the roots of the tree for awhile now. When he sees Carolina sit down and relax, he decides to talk to her- because hey, why not]

You know, I'm surprised. I wouldn't have pegged you for a party person.
lightningbearer: (considering it)

C - on the fringes of things

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2014-06-05 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*normally Geddoe's not one much for social occasions of any kind, but this isn't normal circumstances. So he showed up--even brought some small game he'd managed to hunt on his way--despite his disinclination.

Even so, for now he kept to the edges of things, observing and making mental note of anything of interest before deciding whether to approach anyone...*
traitre: (❀ that's wack)

[personal profile] traitre 2014-06-05 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Even if he's a stranger, something about that hat might recall a certain kid with a talent for vaporizing bear-people. Indeed, that thing looks a little like Yugo's-- just on overdrive. Hard to miss.

A good-natured laugh.]
I'm sure they would, but I daresay our leader would disapprove. As tempting as it may be to taste us, their fear of him is probably greater then their desire to try.
wilder: (side stand)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-06-05 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, guess that's true. [he tilts his head] Oh? What'd you call it then? A gathering? An event? A shindig?
wilder: (booooored)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-06-05 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, that is a mighty weird hat that's pretty hard not to notice. Then again, considering what his sister wears he can't judge too greatly about bigass hats.]

Their fear of the leader huh? [Wow, that is completely different from redflight. The Dragonqueen didn't seem like someone he wanted to cross, but he was hardly afraid of her] Sounds like a lovely flight.
lightningbearer: (standard :| expression)

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2014-06-06 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
*after having been escorted in and dropping off his contribution to the pot with the cooks, Geddoe... well, actually hasn't done much of anything but observe from the fringes of things for a while, clearly not being a particularly social type

Eventually, though, he does get around to approaching the person who was apparently responsible for arranging all this*

You think something like this will work?

*...it's actually an honest question, not that it's easy to tell from his stoic demeanor...*

[ Naturally anytime there are those who aren't of her kin or her kin's chosen wandering within the Sanctum, they have her interest. Instead of watching from a distance in her true form, she's taken on her mortal guise to walk among them.

There's a warm smile given to any who approach her, even if they aren't Redsworn so at least she seems welcoming to any kind of conversation. It's her children that watch everyone carefully who approach this time, ready to jump in if need be. ]
raggedydoc: (are you pondering what i'm pondering)

[personal profile] raggedydoc 2014-06-06 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[The Doctor can't help studying his surroundings inside the Ruby Sanctum, so different from the Amber Sanctum he's used to, and eventually, his gaze is drawn to the horned woman who, he suspects, must be the Aspect of her flight, the Lifebinder he's heard mentioned once or twice. He approaches her casually, hands stuck in his pockets, clearing his throat before he speaks.]

Lovely sanctum you've got here.
raggedydoc: (do i dazzle you)

C!

[personal profile] raggedydoc 2014-06-06 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
[The Doctor seems to have crammed a bit of everything on his plate; this regeneration has some slightly eclectic taste buds, and so a passerby might note a distinctly unusual combination or two (though no fish fingers and custard, much to his dismay). He's leaning against a tree not too far away from the cooking fire as he eats, more nibbling than anything else; what he's really here to do is to observe the other Dragonsworn. The food is nice, though, he has to admit.]
lifeforged: (I'm yours)

[personal profile] lifeforged 2014-06-06 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Just as lovely as many parts of Azeroth are.

[ A fair response in turn, but she dips her head in gratitude. Her children deserve to grow up with beauty surrounding them after all the destruction they have seen thus far in their lives. ]

It would be good to show you, to show all of you, but until the demons have been pushed back... [ She frowns, but only briefly. ]

This isn't the time for dwelling on those matters. Have you come to visit with anyone in particular or are you here for the food?
wilder: (you can't take the sky from me)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-06-06 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ha, well, there's a great deal you don't know about me. [Plus people suck. Really suck] I'll mingle in awhile.

Alright, gathering it is.
lightningbearer: (something to say)

[personal profile] lightningbearer 2014-06-06 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
*disinclined to socializing though Geddoe certainly is, that doesn't stop him from observing interesting little cues, such as the watchfulness of certain denizens of the sanctum.... and the horned woman mingling with the dragonsworn who somehow doesn't quite give the feeling of being one of them*

This place is yours?
