[Sora stood at the mouth of a cave in Emerald Sanctum, trying to retrace his steps mentally. He scratches at his head, thinking outloud]

I left Yen Sid's tower, and then...everything got went all bizarre and there were these guys in cloaks-

[But not the Organization cloaks either. He sighs and shakes his head. Maybe he should have paid more attention to what those cloak guys were saying. He's not sure what he was doing here. Then again, he was partly just glad it didn't look like the World that Never Was again.]

Maybe I should just ask someone...

[And he decides to do just that, looking around the Sanctum he looks for someone to bother. The sleeping ones he decides to leave alone, but when he spots someone awake, he'll walk straight up to them in a very friendly manner and smile]

Hiya! Sorry to bother ya, but can you tell me where I am?

Oh? Really? That's handy!

What about garlic? Or sunshine? Or...it's crosses, right?

The mortal vampires are called Moroi. The Moroi don't have those problems like story-book vampires do. Yes, they need blood and they don't like the sun - it makes them a bit faint - but otherwise, they're normal people with a few quirks, not the most physically strong and they have magic.

Dhampirs don't have any of the Moroi drawbacks, but we also don't get the magic. We're really fast and strong, but that's about it.

...Oh. [he looks a little bit disappointed. since man so much for those campfire stories] Heh heh, I probably should've known they wouldn't be like what they say in stories.

That's still cool though! That you're fast and strong and can get tans! [But oh that reminds him] Are you still that way here?

Remember those evil immortal vampires I mentioned? Those are called Strigoi and they are like those stories. The sunlight kills them and you have to stake them in the heart or decapitate them to kill them.

[Rose hated Strigoi.]

And I'm still me here, so I still have my strength and speed.

[heartstorage]

Yeah, I remember! [he just got sidetracked!] Strigoi...they didn't come here too, right?

[Since evil immortal vampires sounds like it'd be a pain to deal with on top of demon invasions.]

[He frowns further at the statement that she's still herself.]

Oh... [But he'll try to be optimistic. It wasn't her problem anyway] Good! I'm sure we'll need that!

You can't say they're not well equipped.

[She peers around too, already familiar with the layout from being in here previously.]

Is there anything you think you can wield in here?

Oh! Hello Sora.

[ She offers him an even brighter smile then, happy that her new flightmate is so friendly. ]

And um, you can call me Lady. Where are you from, Sora? Far away from here, like all of us, I guess, and I might not even know of it, but... what is it like?

There are beings here that are very similar to Strigoi. They're called Death Knights. They're pretty easy to spot. Unfortunately, they're dragonsworn of the other flights, so as long as there are still demons about, I have to let them live. For now. [She can't abide with the death of innocents.]

But actual Strigoi from my home? I've not seen any yet and if the dragonmages are smart, they won't bring any here. It's my duty to destroy Strigoi as I'm a Guardian.

Yeah, no kidding.

[And looking around...he sees some swords hanging on a rack and approaches them. He used to do swordfights all the time when he was a kid, how different can it be?]

[Nevermind those swords were made of wood.]

I think a sword would work! [And without thinking, he reaches over for the claymore to take and nearly drops it from its "surprising" weight] Ah!

Death Knights...?

[Okay, the more he hears it, the more it doesn't feel right to him. Especially that "for now"]

Wait, hold up. Are these Death Knight guys hurting people? Do you know? If they are, we can't just look the other way because we can use them. That's not how you win a war against darkness.

[Rose didn't feel like going into the whole 'lesser evil' argument that she'd heard too many times herself. She had her own principles, but at the moment she's chosen to let the Death Knights live, if only because...]

I haven't seen any direct evidence that they are hurting people. I just know, because of what they are, that they eventually will. And that they have in the past.

If I see them hurting people instead of the demons they're supposed to be fighting like the rest of us? I'll deal with them. But right now, without evidence... it's just-- [She shifted a bit uncomfortably.] It's not right to kill them when there are demons out there actively trying to destroy this world.

[Since they weren't actually Strigoi. It bothered Rose that her stupid moral compass was letting a bunch of undead monsters that her upbringing and experience tells her need to die, but there was this whole greater good thing that she sometimes just couldn't shake. It was probably the reason that whole Light that Vastania told her about choose Rose as one of its paladins.]

[Sora would have little patience for such an argument anyway. He's not stranger to these sorts of dilemma. Nobodies, things with no hearts that should have never existed. For such a long time, he killed them without question. The world was black and white.]

[But knowing what he knew now...he wonders how many might still be alive today if they had extended hands towards them instead of blades.]

[He doesn't want to make that same mistake twice. And so, he shakes his head]

You're right, it's not right to kill them without evidence. Different worlds have different rules. They might be like your Strigoi, but that doesn't mean they are the same. You don't know for sure if they'll choose to hurt people or not.

And if they don't choose to hurt anyone, then even after we deal with the demons it's not right to kill them. Okay?

[She can't help but laugh a little.]

A sword of that size is best left for people bigger than you or me.

[Lyn give a good look around before pulling out a falchion.]

How about this one?

[Luckily, he's good at laughing at himself so he gives a weak little chuckle]

Ha...you're probably right.

[Carefully setting down that sword now! He looks over at what she offers]

Oh! That might work! Can I see it? [He holds his hand out to take it!]

Lady, okay!

[Slightly strange name, but honestly he's heard weirder. And oh, someone asking about his home? that's oddly pretty new]

Me? Uh... [He waffles a little since normally he isn't allowed to say, but they all aren't from here, right? Would that be okay?] I'm from the Destiny Islands. It's a pretty quiet w- place. Just some small tropical islands.

What about you, Lady? Where're you from?

[Lyn carefully flips it around and offers it hilt first.]

It's a bit smaller than that one but hopefully, it'll do.

[He takes hold of the sword, stepping back away from Lyn before giving a few experimental swings. He's not unskilled, he definitely seems like someone whose handled a weapon before. However his style is definitely one that seems unrefined- straight to the point strikes, as someone who is self taught]

[He lowers the sword and looks over at her]

Whaddya mean?

Minimizing your weaknesses and maximizing your strengths. It's pretty clear you taught yourself and probably picked up hints from elsewhere but you should always try to do everything you can to make yourself better.

That's a conversation we can have after we deal with the demons. I can't and won't commit to something like that right now.

[there's a pause before he reluctantly backs off]

...Okay. We'll talk about it later.

Destiny Islands... oh, that sounds nice. I'm not from a tropical place, but I do like the tropics. Oh, you must have a lot of sun, yes? And beaches... and tropical fruit!

[ There's not a lot of places that Lady doesn't like, but the tropics have always seemed like such a happy place, to her. ]

I'm from a quiet little place, too. Well... my village is quiet, other places are more excitable. We have the Enchanted Woods all around us, and sometimes at night it looks a little scary, but all of the animals are quite friendly if you're friendly with them. There are a few dragons, but there are certainly no demons...
