She absolutely catches the mouthed words, and even though she doesn't look at Deathwing again, she hears him telling them to carry on as well. Honestly, she would have let Qilby go had he just walked away (though probably screaming at him the whole time), but Deathwing's goading is more than enough to rustle her feathers and encourage her to keep on fighting.
That said, considering they're all Blacksworn and therefore have the abilities, the manipulation of earth around her probably shouldn't have come as such a surprise. She's still moving full force when her legs are grabbed, so with a little shriek she pitches forward while her little wings furiously flutter in an attempt to keep her balance. Looking up, she outright hisses at him, clawing at the rock encasing her legs, trying to figure out how to fix this.
"You wanna fuckin' repeat that once you're on fuckin' fire?" Still determined to throw him into the bonfire, apparently. Or a lava pit. She's also determined to get out of her constraints - something she wouldn't be able to do if she didn't also have the same Blacksworn abilities.
But she does, and even though she is by no means a master (or anything close to it), she's able to counteract his entrapment with enough pawing and, eventually, kicking as she focuses on her new ability and pulls herself out. "C'mon then, fuckin' EDUCATE ME." Reflective of the differences between them, Apollo doesn't waste her energy trying to trap Qilby - no, she is much more offensive than that, so what she does put her energy into is forming a boulder half the size of her and giving it a kick straight in Qilby's direction.
