[OOC: This post is for any and all interaction with Derenaar and the Greensworn helping the elves from scouring demons to rearranging the greenery to other daily quests up to and including showing other Dragonsworn around. Please remember to add your tag to the post.]


[When the Greensworn arrived at Derenaar, they weren't entirely sure what to expect. Were these elves going to be like the Sin'thalas elves and wish their destruction because of some grudge against the dragons? Or would they be more like the elves of Silverglen Retreat, willing to allow them access and trade but stay distant? What they hadn't expected was - after a lengthy conversation in Darnassian between Rose Hathaway and the elven leaders of Derenaar - to be welcomed in with open arms to the city.

With it being better than initially expected, the Greensworn set about proving themselves by helping out in Derenaar. It seemed a bag of demon heads and a few Kaldorei druids that still honored the Green Flight went a long way.]

[Oh good, at least Sora is being cautious. Thankfully the wind is in his favor too, blowing towards him rather than away. Jacques isn't sure how good the senses of Felguards are, but better safe than sorry.

The hunter is quiet, slipping into place beside a tree not far from the little lion. He peers past the underbrush to see what they're dealing with.

The Felguard are built thick, red-skinned and humanoid, armored everywhere except their muscular chests. There's about six of them, most armed with axes, a couple with swords.]

Thanks for the offer but I do know how to survive. It's just the environment I need to get used to.

[Six was a pretty good number. If he had his keyblade, he probably wouldn't think twice about throwing himself in there. But as it was, he probably should stand to be a bit more careful.]

[But hey, that's part of the reason he was out here right? Practice]

[Before he moves out, he concentrates on the ground. He feels several roots of the forest, and uses his that greensworn ability to raise the roots around the feet of the felguard, so they're more likely to trip and even for a few- trap them where they stand.]

[Once that's done with- he gives a single nod towards Jacques before darting out to go after the one that's furthest away from its group, moving with extreme quickness and agility]

[Nodding back at Sora, Jacques watches from his vantage point as the cub sets out.

Sora's root traps do the trick, tripping up a few of the demons. The ones that don't fall are quickly on the alert, looking around, the ones that are on the ground quickly making use of weapons to slash at the offensive roots.

The one targeted by Sora gets to his feet just as the lion draws near enough, but it's one of the others that spots the Greensworn first. He gives a shout, pointing, but he doesn't get much farther than that even as the others turn their attention towards Sora, gurgling as he finds a large arrow punching through the back of his throat.]

As long as it takes when a lovely lady is asking me to dinner! [He bows so grandly, he can't be entirely serious.] Though I warn you, I know a phenomenal amount of Azerothian history and culture, so if you ask me questions on that subject, you had best be prepared for answers!

[Sora is well aware that the attention is on him, though having that one silenced helped. It doesn't matter very much to him, he's used to Heartless being able to pinpoint him at any time anyway]

[Instead he focuses on his target. When he's near enough, he uses his speed to leap into the air and swipe at the demon's stomach- landing shortly after and moving out of range]

[Finding one of their number struck from behind, it throws them into disarray as their attention is torn between Sora and whomever else had attacked them.

The one being attacked by Sora is caught off his guard, growling as the lion cub strikes. He swipes back with a battle axe, however too slowly as Sora's already moved out of range.

Two of the other demons move to assist Sora's target, the other two scanning the forest for signs of the other attacker. It's then that Hawk dives from above with a scream, sharp talons tearing at whatever unarmored flesh it can. Jacques lets another arrow fly as the demons are preoccupied with his eagle, trusting the bird to get clear. He swoops around to try and distract some of the ones moving for Sora, next.]

I think I can handle you, bucko. [Rose laughed a little. As crazy as Maridian was, he was also fun to be around. Even if it did make her head hurt sometimes.]

How about you meet me in town in about... [She glanced up at the sun to approximate time since her gauntlets covered her watch.] Five hours? Just don't go causing problems or I'm going to be forced to kick you out. And I really don't want to have to do that.

There's more to one of those classes than the basics of survival. So, can you tell me what lichen on the side of a tree tells you?

I'll be busy here for a while, but I make my rounds through Silverglen often enough. Perhaps we can share a drink sometime.

[Her eyes flickered to the pack, seeing the books.] I'm certainly interested in your research. Those books have to be more captivating than dreamfoil.

[theshadowkissed]

Unless you're from a long-lived race-- [She stopped and tilted her head.]

I take it you're not human despite looking like one? I'm not either, but dhampir lifespans are the same as humans.

[Well that certainly surprises him. Enough that he can't even hide the surprise]

Huh? What'd make you say that?

You just said that you hoped you wouldn't live that long. Unless you're from a people who can live that long, it was kind of a pointless thing to say.

[Because otherwise, why would he bother saying it unless it was a possibility? She's never known a human, dhampir or moroi to say that offhanded. Because to live that long would mean becoming strigoi.]

Haha...what you know, someone actually observant.

[He calms down a little, but rubs his neck]

It's...complicated. I might live a human lifespan, I might live forever. Don't know which.

Handle me? Is that a threat or a promise? [He grins, cocking a finger at her with such smarm that he can't possibly be serious. But who could turn down the opportunity for that line?]

I'll see you then, with the promise of seeing you as a guarantee of my good behavior.

[He smiles. She would be interested in his research, wouldn't she? Never fear. It'll bear fruit soon enough-- and when it does, everyone will get to see him reap the benefits.]

I find everything captivating, although plant life -- the study, the engineering of it -- has always been a specialty of mine. [Qilby glances upwards behind her, where the branches of an unnaturally-tall tree crown over the rest of the foliage surrounding the elven city. He's been here long enough to recognize a tree shaped by men's hands -- Greensworn hands -- when he sees it.

With a small motion of his head at the structure, he indicates as such.] Sometimes I think I was assigned to the wrong flight.

It tells you what direction north is, right?

[About halfway into Rose's explanation, Vas' eyes glaze over.]

These concepts are familiar to me. I have lived among humans, Rose. I have sailed on their boats and ridden on their airships. And they organize themselves much like we do, with the highest-ranked officers being the confidants of the Prophet or the human king.

[She lets out a sigh, more defeated than exasperated.]

What you say is acceptable to me. I do not know if it will be acceptable to my flight.

[They were details enough to make him stick out of the crowd. Jacques would have preferred one of the other Greensworn to address him, but since it seemed that no one else was around at the moment, the young hunter approaches in his quiet way.]

[Okay, Jacques, maybe you should at least say something.]

Never underestimate Rose Hathaway. It tends to bite you in the ass. [She waved her hand a little.] Though honestly, you and all the rest of us will probably just live until something kills us. I don't think we were chosen by the dragons for our penchant to sit and let life pass us by so we can grow hella old and die in a nursing home.

[wilder]

I'll keep that in mind.

[He gives a little heh]

Oh, I'm way ahead of you there. I've already died once and someone brought me back. But maybe you're right. Maybe it's just a matter of getting killed and not having anyone bother with the trouble again.

Who knows what formula the dragons use to place us. Though the fact that you're using the word 'engineering' in reference to plant life might be an indication why you weren't placed with the Green Flight. We don't force the plant life to do anything; we ask it.

But I should let you get back to your herb gathering. See you around.

So have I. [pause] Died and been brought back, that is. I'm shadowkissed. But I'm not exactly going to expect to come back next time. And neither should you.

Gives us a better appreciation for life, sometimes, I think.

[Rose raised her hands before her.] Hey, I didn't know if the humans you're familiar with were the same the humans from my world. I've been learning it's better to not assume here.

And you've been on an airplane? Really? [She looked down at those hoofed feet.] You must be hell to sit in front of.

That's right. So how do you know that if you've never been around trees enough to know how to walk through the woods without sounding like an elephant?
