Welcome to the City of Artists. [OPEN]

Who: Greensworn and you
What: Befriending Derenaar

[OOC: This post is for any and all interaction with Derenaar and the Greensworn helping the elves from scouring demons to rearranging the greenery to other daily quests up to and including showing other Dragonsworn around. Please remember to add your tag to the post.]

[When the Greensworn arrived at Derenaar, they weren't entirely sure what to expect. Were these elves going to be like the Sin'thalas elves and wish their destruction because of some grudge against the dragons? Or would they be more like the elves of Silverglen Retreat, willing to allow them access and trade but stay distant? What they hadn't expected was - after a lengthy conversation in Darnassian between Rose Hathaway and the elven leaders of Derenaar - to be welcomed in with open arms to the city.

With it being better than initially expected, the Greensworn set about proving themselves by helping out in Derenaar. It seemed a bag of demon heads and a few Kaldorei druids that still honored the Green Flight went a long way.]

A: [Rose was sitting in the tavern with a plate of food and what looked like a map of sorts. It was a beautiful map, from one the Derenaar's cartographers, and covered in Darnassian script. It was about time she knew what this world looked like, though there was still a lot on this map she couldn't decipher and she'd been warned by the cartographer that it was from before the Burning Legion's arrival.

Things were bound to be out of date.]

B: [Toward the end of the week, a rumbling could be heard over in the less populated section of the elven city. Drawing close, the vibrations could be felt as well as heard as a large tree was moving, reaching higher into the sky, branches spreading out and roots pulling themselves somewhat out of the ground to create a large hollow underneath it.

Before the tree was Rose with sweat dripping down her face and a look of extreme concentration and strain upon it. Moving a tree this large wasn't hard; it was the care and detail needed to shape it into the lodge she was making it into that was the problem. The precision she was using was exhausting her and, once she was satisfied and released her power, the dhampir dropped to her knees, panting, and braced herself on the ground with her hands.

Eyes closed, she fought back the urge to throw up and willed herself not to pass out. Holy hell, she was never going to make another tree lodge again.]

C: [At various times throughout the week, Rose would patrol the woods surrounding Derenaar. In full green-tinted mail with the forest green drape down her back and a large two-handed sword, the dhampir typically chose evenings on into the night to watch for demons, trolls - she'd actually seen a small group of them once and she'd thought the night elves were weird looking - and any dragonsworn from other flights.

She wasn't expecting any problems, but she'd learned one could never be sure on Azeroth.]

[Sora had been wandering around the town, taking in the sights. He was glad they made so much progress in befriending these people- they seem pretty nice!]

[It's the sound of the tree limbs moving that attracts him. He heads on over and catches sight of Rose moving the branches. It's safe to say he's awed, watching with an open mouth and expressing a "Whoa".. as they move.]

[At least, until she drops to her knees. Then he snaps out of his awe and runs over here]

Rose! You okay?

[It took Rose a moment to realize that someone was talking to her. She managed a nod before leaning down to press her forehead to the ground as if she could gain some kind of stabilization from it.

At least that urge to throw up faded.]

Probably. If I pass out, just... just drag me into the lodge I made.

[He kneels down next to her, looking concerned]

Did you use too much magic? [Glancing at the tree. Yeah. He's pretty sure doing something like that was beyond his current power levels] And hey, don't pass out on me yet. I have some water, if you need it.

Way too much. This is five times worse than healing myself.

[Squeezing her eyes shut a moment long, Rose finally pushed herself up only to sit her butt on the ground. She made the most pathetic sight right then with her hair plastered to her face probably looking pretty pale. She hastened to pull her hair back.]

Water sounds wonder. Thanks.

[A. The Forests]

[Like many of the other Greensworn, Sora is spending what time he can patrolling the forests within the range of Derenaar - and maybe a bit beyond it because it's not like there's a clear border.]

[Since it seems like a good time to practice his new power, you might catch sight of what looks like a young black lion, skulking through the forest as he looks for something. Even if his coloring makes him blend, he shouldn't be too hard to spot- he's still working on that whole stealth thing.]

[B. Derenaar]

[Later on, he can be found in the village, back in human form. Trying to improve relations, he's helping out with any small job he can. Right now, it seems to be looking for a couple lost pets. And he's searching by checking every nook and cranny he can. Since man, puppies can get anywhere if you let them. He knows this very well. Though, you may catch hi muttering to himself]

Man, why is it always puppies?

Yikes, that's bad.

[He doesn't care so much if she looks pathetic or not, right now he's just on worry. He grabs his bag and pulls out his water flask, offering it to her]

It's no problem. Here ya go! Drink as much as you'd like, I can always get more.

[Taking the flask with a hand far less steady than she'd hoped, Rose took a couple small drinks before pouring some of the water into her hand. She splashed that onto her face before using her cloak to dry it.]

I don't suggest trying that yourself. But at least we have a home here.

[She handed the flask back.]

Or we will once we get it finished.

[Hey he likes to think he's more careful than- oh who is he kidding he's totally reckless and would overexert himself if the opportunity came up. He turns his head to look back at the lodge]

Yeah, it looks really great! Wanna check out the inside? I'll help you get there.

Yeah. Let's go see if this was worth it.

[She offered a tired smile as she held a hand out to help her to her feet. She swayed a little at the dizziness that came with it, but she steadied herself using Sora's shoulder.]

It's really just one big room with a space we can add a door. At least I think I laid all the roots inside back down.

[Which she had... except for one, sticking up in the left side of the chamber.]

[Toward the end of the week, Vas approaches the route Rose uses on her patrols. She's dressed herself in a simple cloth robe instead of her usual armor, and she's covered her head and most of her face with a cowled cloak, but there should be no mistaking the person under it all. Especially so since she hasn't given up her sword or her shield.]

[A master of disguise she is not, but it should not be immediately obvious to any Kaldorei in the area that she is the spitting image of an Eredar. Even under the cloak, though, there's no hiding that questioning tilt of her head, nor the curiosity in her voice.]

You had something to tell me in person, Rose?

[He takes her hand and helps her out to her feet, allowing her to lean his weight against his while heading towards the tree. Maybe he doesn't have super strength like Rose, but he's not a weakling either]

One room's more than we got in the Sanctum!

[Seriously, some days he feels like he'd kill for a bed. And slowly, they make their way up there, looking impressed as he reaches that doorway as he doesn't really notice the one root right away]

Wow!

Man... I didn't get that one back down.

[Rose stepped away from Sora into the chamber and made her way over to the root. It was bigger around than any of their flight and stuck up enough that there was a small gap between it and the ground. It did make a small section partially separated from the rest of the chamber, but it did look out of place.]

I'm too tired to put this one back down into the ground. Think we can manage with it?

[There was indeed no mistaking the draenei, but that didn't mean Rose didn't find the whole 'disguise' funny. In fact, she started laughing so much she had to lean against a nearby tree.]

What on Earth made you decide on that getup?

[One might interpret the sudden jerk of her head as alarm, but it's honestly hard to tell when she's so covered up.]

I-is that so funny? I didn't want to compromise your efforts here.

[He follows after her, titling his head a little at the root.]

If we can't, one of us can take care of it. You're not the only one who can control plants.

[After a moment of holding her hand up to stall Vastania's next words, Rose managed to get her laughter under control.]

No, no, I get that and appreciate it, but if you're going to go around looking like some tall mystic, you might want to put aside the sword and shield. A staff wouldn't look out of place.

I've actually never tried to work something another greensworn's already worked. Though I suppose it makes sense that it wouldn't matter.

Huh.

A mystic? I wasn't trying to... never mind.

[She pulls the hem of the cowl back, since Rose seems to find it ridiculous. And it allows her to actually see where she's walking.]

Anyway, what was it that you wanted to discuss?

Yeah. I mean we're just asking the plants to do stuff, right? So, so long as we don't give them conflicting requests, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

[He grins some]

But even with the root, this place looks great! You've gotten really good, Rose!

[Rose shot a glance back toward Derenaar just to make sure there weren't any night elves in sight.]

Couple things actually. One personal, one flight oriented. We'll start with the personal one.

So... you know how you were telling me about the Light and all that? Weird things are happening to me that I don't exactly know how to control, but they've got that whole warm tingling thing that I associate with when I deal with Spirit back him. Things like healing myself.

...and then one day I was taking out a scouting party of demons, trying to be all stealthy about it, putting them to sleep before giving them a clean death. Some elves came upon their camp and took off running, but they were getting chased. I yelled at the demons to get their attention and some golden-white light covered me and they all turned and came after me. Every. Single. Damn. Demon.

[She almost died then. If she hadn't been able to heal herself, she never would've made it back to the Sanctum for Morpheus to finish putting a magical Band-Aid on her.]

Is this normal for people here or am I just special?

[With her hood pulled partly back, there's nothing obscuring Vas' face as her eyes widen. She blinks a few times before she finds her words.]

That is indeed the Light. You, too, have been chosen to serve.

[She touches a hand to her mouth halfway thoughtfully, halfway shocked.]

[That made a whole lot of sense. Though it did make her wonder what would happen if the plants were given conflicting things. Maybe she'd ask Morpheus at her next Darnassian lesson.]

Thanks for the confidence boost. Other than being strong and fast, back home dhampir don't have any magic or fancy powers. I spent a lot of time the first couple weeks I was here figuring out what being dragonsworn gave me.

But this... this is the biggest thing I've tried to do. So glad the tree didn't decide to beat me senseless.

[Apparently she was special. Rose wasn't too sure she liked being special in more ways that being dragonsworn. That came with enough strings, but here Vastania was saying she was chosen to serve. Serve what?]

I'm a Guardian. I serve the Dragomir Princess. What do you mean by being chosen? And why are you looking at me like I have a giant bug you've never seen before crawling on my face?

[Abominations is what. Abominations.]

[He gives a small laugh] Maybe you're a fast learner! I'm used to having magic, and I'm still getting the hang of these new powers. I don't think I could do this.

[Still with the smile, he rubs the side of his face, as if in painful memory] But at least I've learned not to practice with thorny plants!
