Lirael isn't at all sure what she thinks of being known of by someone who she doesn't know... saying she'd been in some place of which she had no memory. But the thought of being someone's close friend... that's still painful, and she swallows.

And addresses the last part, instead, in a small voice. "I can't reach the Charter. It isn't there. My bells still work, but the Charter is just-- gone." If this woman is a friend, she'll know what that means.
