[open] Event Post: To Silverglen
Who: OTA.
Where: Silverglen Retreat.
When: Various dates between May 16th-23rd. Indicate the date in the subject line of your post if it's important!
What: Dragonsworn deal with the aftermath of Sin'thalas by going to a village of much friendlier elves... And find that some things have suddenly changed.
Warnings: None yet, will update as needed.
[ Be sure to read the plotting post and confirm your flight's reputation before posting! Thanks! ]
The mood in Silverglen Retreat is somber in the days following the incident at Sin'Thalas. News travels fast even to a little outpost like Silverglen, and it's hard not to talk about the clash between the Dragonsworn and the elves in the east. Certainly, it's all that seems to be on any Silverglen elf's mind when they see you approach the tangled undergrowth that serves as the gate to the village.
As such, the guards appear to be even more vigilant than usual-- subtly keeping an eye on those of certain flights and not-so-subtly watching the others. It's strange. The elves didn't treat you like this a matter of days ago, and it's not as if you did anything at Sin'thalas to change their opinion of you this much. What happened?
The townsfolk seem to give you the same treatment. Where one merchant might've bartered with you freely, now they refuse to take your business. Where one villager shied away from you, now they treat you as a friend. Perhaps they even point and whisper behind their hands. Obviously they know something you don't, but if they're pressed about it it's only a matter of time before the story comes out.
Someone in your flight has done something to put everyone's trustworthiness in question.

Whoa!
[Did something go wrong with the kidnapped 'sworn? He doesn't have time to ponder this though-- they seem intent on chasing him off. Yikes! He portals a safe distance away, still within sight of the gates, and then he sits down.
He needs an 'in'-- he needs to talk to someone, because they weren't just shooting at him indiscriminately. They wanted him gone.]
[ooc: Yugo is likely going with Naminé for this, but he's still open for conversation & rallying up warriors to deal with the furbolgs.]
I'm so sorry for the late ;;
So after getting a few directions from some of the Bronze dragons, she's setting out to Silverglen, only to see Yugo sitting just slightly away from the gates. He doesn't look so good or very happy, and the Dragonsworn were usually allowed inside Silverglen from what she's heard. Huh.
She'll stop at a distance, just to give him room and room for herself in case anything goes wrong. She still doesn't have the biggest grasp on her new powers yet, so relying only on them might not be the best.]
...Is something wrong?
You're fine!
Yeah, actually. I tried to go in the village, and they attacked me. That's never happened before!
<3
They're not like the elves from Sin'thalas, are they?
no subject
No, not really. It's like they're scared of me. They stopped as soon as I got away from their archers.
[He looks deeply concerned by this.]
I've never done anything to hurt them. If I can just talk to someone, I'm sure I can clear this up-- but they won't let me in the village.
/slowly crawls out of her abyss
It sounds like they may think differently. [Its not a jab towards him, just an honest observation.] I've... never been in there before myself so, I wouldn't know how they'd react, but...
[Perhaps they just need a mediator of some sort.]
/RISES FROM THE DEEP
Will you help me?
/swarms over like a murloc
I'll try. I... can't promise anything though.
MRRRGGLLLRRRGGLLLGLGLLLGLLLL
Thank you! It's okay if it doesn't work out. I'll just find another way.
Oh, my name's Yugo.
no subject
Mine's Namine. Shall we go?
no subject
[He dusts himself off one more time, then nods and starts forward, immediately putting on an expression of determination!]
no subject
She follows behind him closely, enough to give them both some space of need be. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be a long walk, but its clear that the elves are already taking notice of Yugo and don't look at all pleased about it.]
no subject
Um, do you mind going first? They might not realize we're together.
[That sounds awful, so he amends it with:]
Don't worry. I'll make sure nothing happens to you.
no subject
...Still, those arrows look a bit unnerving. Naminé glances between them and Yugo before nodding at him. She's faced worse anyways, by way of Marluxia, Larxene and almost Saix. This should be okay, and hopefully a misunderstanding.
Gotta be brave in a situation like this. Sora gained entrance into other worlds and settlements hundreds of times. This shouldn't be too bad. Just need to be brave.]
Ahh... We're seeking passage into Silverglen.

The guard in charge eyes Yugo with distrust, then shifts her gaze to Nami.]
What flight do you belong to, girl? Can you prove it?
no subject
Turning back to the guard.]
...I am from Bronze, but... [And this alone could potentially give them reason to turn her into a piece of swiss cheese alone, but her powers here are so new and not what she's used to.] H-how do you want me to prove it?
no subject
We require all dragonsworn to show proof of what flight they belong to. All dragonsworn have powers from their flight.
[Yugo brightens.] Oh, I know what she's talking about. I'm bluesworn so I can make ice appear, even though I still have my other powers.
Maybe just... hold out your hand and concentrate? Don't point at anyone, though.
no subject
Cripes, what if its that dangerous? But Yugo... Namine assured him that she'd help.]
...Alright. [Breathe in, breathe out, and she holds out a hand, thinking. He mentioned ice. Maybe they're all elemental in nature...
Its thin, lightly coloured, and rather weak, but one single streak of lightning drops from the sky into her hand. Its enough to startle her and loose her concentration. It disappears quickly.]

[He had been traveling to Silverglen to trade for supplies, since preoccupation with the kidnapping fiasco had left the Flight's supply rather low. He was lazy, so all he had on him was a bag of apples he had grabbed from the Sanctum. He wasn't thinking much about it, until the guards greeted him with overwhelming hostility, calling him a butcher and threatening to shoot him if he stepped any closer.]
[Not real fond of becoming a pincushion, he wisely stepped away.]
[Maybe you caught a glimpse of the encounter with the guards, or if you come later, you'll find him sitting on a rock up the road from Silverglen. He's got his arms crossed and definitely looks miffed- but not nearly as upset as someone who'd just been accused and kicked out a village probably should be.]
[He sure is muttering to himself though]
Jeez, what a pain. Now what do I do?
no subject
Stopping some several feet from the entryway, the quiet hunter looks at those on guard inquiringly. Coming to trade has not been unwelcome before, and nor have they ever looked at him so warily.]
...why..?
no subject
Can you think of what we have done to earn their ire?
no subject
No...
[Unless they held some sort of kinship with the elves they had just rescued the others from recently, but even then he saw no particular reason for this to happen since they'd not caused those elves any harm in the process.]
no subject
[ There's no harm in diplomacy. Rarely has there ever been. ]
no subject
[Then again, Jacques isn't the best choice for one that wants to press for answers.]
no subject
Well... what can be done in the meantime? Surely there must be something.

I should give it a honest attempt.

She just wishes she could figure out why they view her as a threat now.
"Please, can we not talk about this?"
