What: Dragonsworn deal with the aftermath of Sin'thalas by going to a village of much friendlier elves... And find that some things have suddenly changed.

The mood in Silverglen Retreat is somber in the days following the incident at Sin'Thalas. News travels fast even to a little outpost like Silverglen, and it's hard not to talk about the clash between the Dragonsworn and the elves in the east. Certainly, it's all that seems to be on any Silverglen elf's mind when they see you approach the tangled undergrowth that serves as the gate to the village.

As such, the guards appear to be even more vigilant than usual-- subtly keeping an eye on those of certain flights and not-so-subtly watching the others. It's strange. The elves didn't treat you like this a matter of days ago, and it's not as if you did anything at Sin'thalas to change their opinion of you this much. What happened?

The townsfolk seem to give you the same treatment. Where one merchant might've bartered with you freely, now they refuse to take your business. Where one villager shied away from you, now they treat you as a friend. Perhaps they even point and whisper behind their hands. Obviously they know something you don't, but if they're pressed about it it's only a matter of time before the story comes out.

Someone in your flight has done something to put everyone's trustworthiness in question.

[He can almost sense the difference in the mood almost immediately, and he isn't one to dismiss such things as his imagination. It would have been preferred however, and as he nears the entrance of the village, Jacques can verify that it seems the locals are on edge with his approach.

Stopping some several feet from the entryway, the quiet hunter looks at those on guard inquiringly. Coming to trade has not been unwelcome before, and nor have they ever looked at him so warily.]

You as well? [ Zelda wastes no time in crossing over towards him with a cautious look in her eyes. ]

Can you think of what we have done to earn their ire?

[Jacques glances at her before he nods almost hesitantly, but at the question to follow, he can only shake his head.]

No...

[Unless they held some sort of kinship with the elves they had just rescued the others from recently, but even then he saw no particular reason for this to happen since they'd not caused those elves any harm in the process.]

How unfortunate all of this seems. Speaking with them won't do us any favors either, at least for now... will it?

[ There's no harm in diplomacy. Rarely has there ever been. ]

...they don't seem to want to talk...

[Then again, Jacques isn't the best choice for one that wants to press for answers.]

[ What little she's heard has left her confused more than anything else, but she doesn't push for it. Instead, she just looks between Jacques and the rest of the folks nearby. ]

Well... what can be done in the meantime? Surely there must be something.

Maybe...someone else can ask?

It wouldn't be right for us to shirk responsibility onto another's shoulders even if it were the more peaceful approach. One of us must step up to declare our innocence.

...but if they won't talk to us to tell us what's wrong, then how else will we find out why they're angry?

Persistence? [ If only such a thing were that easy. ]

I should give it a honest attempt.

[Persistence could either get them answers or get the elves angrier at them. Well, trying seems better than nothing. Jacques nods at her.]
