sometimes you can't make it
Who: Alexstrasza, Krasus/Korialstrasz, and the Redsworn
What: Successful retreat into the Ruby Sanctum
Where: Ruby Sanctum
When: After a long, grueling battle near the borders of Suramar
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed
[The Ruby Sanctum is a flurry of activity. This becomes clear within two seconds of stepping through the portal. The wounded are guided over to a grassy clearing surrounded by saplings and adolescent trees, bade to lay down and receive healing from other dragonkin. Some of the trees are years old, while a few look to have shot up recently. If you watch, vines engulf one fallen warrior; the body sinks into the ground, and a tiny sapling appears in its place.
Despite the war going on outside, the sanctum is less of a cavern and more like a self-contained dimension. Ample sunlight drifts down through scarlet leaves, which are occasionally home to the crimson scales of a whelpling. There is life everywhere: insects on twigs, birds chirping overhead, flowers at your feet. Dragon eggs lay nestled in the nooks and crannies offered by the tranquil forest. There is a decently-sized spring filled with fresh, pure water, as well as some small rocky outcroppings to sleep in. It's warm and comfortable enough to rest out in the open, too.
The cloaked and ever-mysterious Krasus stands watching the dispersing redsworn, his back against the massive oak in the center of the sanctum.
Occasionally, one may glimpse a beautiful red-haired woman with copper skin winding through the copse.]

[Kids hanging out with supernatural stuff seems pretty...dangerous]

Okay who is anyone kidding, she's at a canon point which she can care fuck all about what people think of the Shomonkai, especially with people from other worlds.] My father raised me to the be Maiden of the Shomonkai... an organization he founded.
Its purpose was deeply entwined in the entities of the spiritual world.
[It's a cult. She was the Maiden of a cult.]
no subject
[And oh. An "Organization" that's deeply entwined in some spiritual world, huh? Yeah, Zelos has had enough dealings with cult groups trying to murder him over the years to take a good guess what that organization actually is.]
[Not that he'll mention that. N o p e. Just gonna file it as yet another reason to be wary like the paranoid person he is]
Wow, really? Sounds...fun.
[Like getting a root canal kind of fun. At least to him]
You probably know more about spirits and that stuff than I do then. The most I do with supernatural things is fight them.
no subject
In any case, she technically does more than fight them! She works with them!... To fight them!
It's more complicated than that, but the gist is there.] I hope that was meant in an acerbic manner. [She can tell he's lying... but he might not tell she's joking too. Her face is mostly the same, except for it being a bit more relaxed, a bit less focused on keeping a positively neutral expression. Also, as far as Amane and her new angel friend Remiel is concerned, the Shomonkai is anything but fun.]
I may know more than most, but I am nowhere near the most knowledgeable. Not to mention, this world seems to function on different laws, from biology down to magic... the demons and other supernatural elements are altered as well. I doubt my knowledge will prove very useful here. [How terribly modest! Well, she still will fall back a big, unhealthy amount on her outdated knowledge, though.]

[And wow, she is a total line face girl. He idly wonders if she'd look really cute if she smiles or it would just break her face. Whether or not he can tell she's joking, at least he can tell she didn't take offense and clearly didn't find it to be the best thing ever.] Aha, of course of course.
Yeah, maybe not... [It does seem like things are really different here] Have you figured out your magic problem yet?
no subject
Nope.
Not once.]
Inferring with what I've learned from natives of this land... I believe that either the world's laws are different and powers need to be re-adapted, or, were replaced altogether. Since I can still heal with somewhat the same effect, we can conclude that the healing magic from my world and this one seems to be roughly similar.
[Both are crazy fucking OP] Or, it really could be a large seal... but I heard from another that they gained new powers.
no subject
[He listens to her reasoning, contemplating]
Hmmm, that former one seems to make sense. I heard someone else got new powers too, I even saw it. And I figured out how to make fire, and it definitely feels different from how my fire magic worked before. [he hasn't realized that's just his Sworn ability] The rest of my abilities seem to be simply gone, though.
So...maybe you're just learning a new type of healing!
no subject
[Jesus, okay then. She looks at her hands... so, she's got new powers she needs to adapt to? Better than relearning everything, and it's nice she was gifted them, but...] Fire magic...? [Like Agi? Except... different?
She backs up a bit, trying to see if she can do that. She's only skill cracked Almighty skills onto her arsenal before she arrived here, so she didn't try, but...
...A small light of fire appears in her palm, after some deep concentration.] ...Fire magic...
It seems our abilities truly were traded out for new ones.
no subject
Well hey! You can do it too! Don't I feel less special now, haha.
[He's joking, mostly]
Yeah, seems to be the case! But if you can heal and make fire, that's not so bad right?

IT'S TIME TO ATTACK THE OTHER
NATIONSFLIGHTS]Perhaps we have the capability learn all kinds of magic here, then...? That could be a possibility. [She could get used to that.] We would need any strength we can to fight against the demons.
[Flight magic is less taxing than her botched healing attempt, but she shuts it off anyway.]
omg I laughed way too hard at that
Maybe we do! Who knows.
[He rests his chin in his hands]
Still, talk about a pain! Having to relearn everything when we got those freaks right outside this place? [a sigh] Never thought I'd say it, but I'm already missing my powers.
i apologize for nothing
Perhaps it was an fault in the mechanics used in bringing us here. [After all, if she was brought in, shouldn't have Remiel and Jezebel still be with her?] It's confusing if they willed them away on purpose, seeing how we do need to fight. Or perhaps these powers are stronger...
[But... seriously, she hasn't met the world-destroyers yet.] At least we can rest and eat a meal for now. I wouldn't be surprised if they begin training us as soon as possible.
[TRAINING
GODDAMMIT]
good good
Oh right, training. Ugh...! I'd rather sleep for a week!
no subject
[Not like she's gonna say it out loud, but she's super glad this guy is okay. He did help her, after all. Fainting in the middle of a battle has to be a frightful experience.] Some sleep would definitely be good, after what we've been through.
[Hey, she's asked around and taken a bite, maybe she can... sleep...]
no subject
[he'll take a bite of his bear, grimacing a little at the taste. Ugh, eating for the sake of nourishment sucks]
I don't suppose you've seen any beds have you?
no subject
I do hope that if they reach out for more help, it will not lead to similar circumstances. [Because that was easily more chaotic than even the Lockdown. Far more short-term, and thus not as damaging, but...]
No, I haven't. At least, the ground seems viable enough to rest on without the fear of venomous creatures. [Despite the abundant wildlife. Look, she hasn't slept outside much either, she's not too comfortable either.]
no subject
[At her answer, he gives out a little sigh and his shoulders slump]
Oh that's great. [First time he's required sleep in a long time, and he was sleeping on the ground with animals. At least he can tell Amane doesn't seem too happy about the set-up either. Misery loves company or something] Well, guess there's nothing to be done about it for now.
no subject
Seeing how busy those who brought us here are... we must have arrived for good reason. I believe they'll want us to pull our own weight soon. [SO BASICALLY, IF WE WANT BEDS, WE NEED TO WORK FOR IT.
GAH.] Perhaps we should begin training ourselves to use our powers, then...? After we all rest, of course.
no subject
[But kidnapping them and giving them no choice in the matter? It...doesn't sit well with him at all. He won't go further about that though. It's much too personal]
Sorry, you get enough to eat? You're right about the training, I bet tomorrow will be a long day.
no subject
I've eaten enough, thank you. [Maybe eating the whole bear is Not a Good Idea after all.] I do believe some might need more rest than a good night's sleep, though. With luck, it'll be much better than our arrival.
