sometimes you can't make it
Who: Alexstrasza, Krasus/Korialstrasz, and the Redsworn
What: Successful retreat into the Ruby Sanctum
Where: Ruby Sanctum
When: After a long, grueling battle near the borders of Suramar
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed
[The Ruby Sanctum is a flurry of activity. This becomes clear within two seconds of stepping through the portal. The wounded are guided over to a grassy clearing surrounded by saplings and adolescent trees, bade to lay down and receive healing from other dragonkin. Some of the trees are years old, while a few look to have shot up recently. If you watch, vines engulf one fallen warrior; the body sinks into the ground, and a tiny sapling appears in its place.
Despite the war going on outside, the sanctum is less of a cavern and more like a self-contained dimension. Ample sunlight drifts down through scarlet leaves, which are occasionally home to the crimson scales of a whelpling. There is life everywhere: insects on twigs, birds chirping overhead, flowers at your feet. Dragon eggs lay nestled in the nooks and crannies offered by the tranquil forest. There is a decently-sized spring filled with fresh, pure water, as well as some small rocky outcroppings to sleep in. It's warm and comfortable enough to rest out in the open, too.
The cloaked and ever-mysterious Krasus stands watching the dispersing redsworn, his back against the massive oak in the center of the sanctum.
Occasionally, one may glimpse a beautiful red-haired woman with copper skin winding through the copse.]

Does the name Frieza ring any bells?
no subject
No. Should it?

[He flicks the gauntlet she had resting on a boulder, the sound giving him an idea of how dense it was.]
How do you even fight in that thing. It's totally unnecessary to wear such a bulky set.
no subject
The neutrality flickers into a glare when he knocks over her gauntlet, though she was hardly worried about damage from the grass of dirt. ]
It does what I need it to. In space or on the ground.
no subject
[He picks the gauntlet up off the ground and looks inside it. Is it all high tech in there? He's interested to know if it is.]
no subject
More flexible than it looks. Where I'm from, you need all the defense you can get.
[ It's not as if humans could survive a space walk without a suit. ]
no subject
We just probably fight differently than you, that's all.
no subject
[ Yeah, no, she's not going to share now. Maybe later, when she cares less about the experimental project the armor's linked to. ]
So you say. What sort of armor do you use, then? [Since he certainly didn't appear to bring anything armor-like with him.]
no subject
Have it your way. But you might want to think about unhanding me before I answer any questions.
no subject
Talk then.

It's a simple design. A breastplate that's near impossible to crack, some models with shoulder guards and sideguards. It's flexible as well, form fitting to the body. And one size fits all. [His tone is sly in regards to the last sentence.] No other armor is needed. Not for elite soldiers, that is.
no subject
[cooly] And yet, you don't have it with you.
'Elite' armor doesn't do much good if you don't wear it.
no subject
But it just so happens that I didn't even get a courtesy warning to get ready to fight in this universe, so don't you get on me about not having my armor with me.
no subject
None of us had any warning. [best she could tell anyway. She gave a half-shouldered shrug.] But if you had the luxury of being snug asleep in bed, sounds like your world's more restful than mine.
[ ..Not necessarily peaceful. The man's build certainly suggested physical power, if nothing else. ]
no subject
Besides. Don't try to tell me you never take that armor off. Unless of course you never shower or clean yourself, which might explain the smell. [He indicates toward the gauntlet he'd dropped.]
no subject
[ ..just not with the aliens. But he doesn't need to know that. ]
[ When he comments on smell, she does roll her eyes, before gesturing to the cloths still stacks on one of the rocks behind him. ]
This suit may be designed for long term exposure to different environments, but armor maintenance is important. If there's a smell, well.. [she ducks down, picking up the abandoned gauntlet and turning to show the black ichor stuck there; there's a clear expression of distaste.] I happened to get more hands-on time with our new adversaries than I was expecting.
no subject
You're lucky that's not eating through your armor. Besides... [He takes a look around, and actually stops being a jerk for a minute-] I don't think you're going to be able to maintenance that here, it seems this is going to be another undeveloped planet. [Back in Luceti, he'd met people who didn't even know what a car was. It was a sad, sad day.] I'll be lucky if I can even manage to find the spare parts just to make a motor out here, let alone anything advanced.

[She had moved away from where people were drinking and bathing just in case the toxicity could cause contamination, but so far it just..acted much like blood. Incredibly gross, smelly blood. A small price to pay, really.]
[The fact he seems to drop the posturing, even if it's just for a moment, gives Carolina pause. Green eyes flicker to one side, before taking it at face value. For now.]
I noticed. [distaste turns into grimace] Even the demons of this Legion don't seem to utilize any equipment in the field, whatever their home dimension. I'll have to make the most of what I have, for as long as I have it.
no subject
Little devils were shooting fireballs at us, and I've got the feeling that was just the tip of the iceberg. [He might still be a bit bitter about almost having his ass handed to him by a couple of imps.]
no subject
[ She stared at her gauntlet a moment, trying to process the mess she was in inspite of the pain in her head. ]
And it seems like that mage, Krasus, knows the most about what's going on. Guess we'll have to wait for him to resurface tomorrow to ask questions, when more people have recovered.

I think we all have a lot of questions.
no subject
He better answer them all. And then some, if he knows what's good for him. The nerve.
no subject
Until then, we sit tight. [she sniffs lightly, then with more intent, before her head turns quizzically towards the scent of something /burning/.] ...what the hell is that?
no subject
I don't know. There's an idiot over there cooking something, and it smells awful. [But it's food. Can't argue about food.]
