sometimes you can't make it
Who: Alexstrasza, Krasus/Korialstrasz, and the Redsworn
What: Successful retreat into the Ruby Sanctum
Where: Ruby Sanctum
When: After a long, grueling battle near the borders of Suramar
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed
[The Ruby Sanctum is a flurry of activity. This becomes clear within two seconds of stepping through the portal. The wounded are guided over to a grassy clearing surrounded by saplings and adolescent trees, bade to lay down and receive healing from other dragonkin. Some of the trees are years old, while a few look to have shot up recently. If you watch, vines engulf one fallen warrior; the body sinks into the ground, and a tiny sapling appears in its place.
Despite the war going on outside, the sanctum is less of a cavern and more like a self-contained dimension. Ample sunlight drifts down through scarlet leaves, which are occasionally home to the crimson scales of a whelpling. There is life everywhere: insects on twigs, birds chirping overhead, flowers at your feet. Dragon eggs lay nestled in the nooks and crannies offered by the tranquil forest. There is a decently-sized spring filled with fresh, pure water, as well as some small rocky outcroppings to sleep in. It's warm and comfortable enough to rest out in the open, too.
The cloaked and ever-mysterious Krasus stands watching the dispersing redsworn, his back against the massive oak in the center of the sanctum.
Occasionally, one may glimpse a beautiful red-haired woman with copper skin winding through the copse.]

No, nothing like that. Asch was ten when he was replicated, so I ended up looking ten, too. But I didn't have memories or anything, so I was like a baby who had to learn everything all over again.
Auldrant years are really long compared to that weird Earth calendar, though.

[It's not that he forgot that Luke's a replica. It's just...not something he really thinks about all the time when he talks to Luke. ]
[Which is probably ironic considering what Chosens were technically supposed to be, but whatever]
Yeah? About how long are they?
no subject
There's thirteen months, each with about fifty days. So yeah, it's weird missing a month.
no subject
[Not like he gives a damn you're a replica]
About 650 days huh? That is a pretty long year- you'd be about 16 on Earth or Tethe'alla.
no subject
You're right. I didn't really think about that. It'd make everyone else seem like old people, though. [He smiles a bit, then pauses.] I don't know when I was really born, so I've just been going by Asch's birthday. I've been wondering if I should just pick a day or something... What do you think?
no subject
[And oh goddess why are you asking him about birthdays. He scratches his neck]
I dunno, it's just a day to mark stuff, right? If you guys don't wanna share it, I don't see why you can't change it.
no subject
[BECAUSE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE ONE? And Kaneis is Luke's one (1) friend. How sad.]
What if I went by the day I arrived in Exsilium? If I don't choose a day that's kind of important, I'll probably forget, so...
no subject
Hmmm, that'd work. I mean, if you were dead before, then it's kinda the start of your second life, right?
no subject
So I guess I'm actually... eight and a half?
no subject
Heh- you really are a kid.
no subject
No I'm not.
no subject
Uh huh.
Eat up. Your food'll suck even more if it's cold.

He realizes as he's biting into his bear steak that he hasn't heard Zelos laugh like that before. It's kind of nice.
He also realizes that this is war and there won't be much more room for laughter or downtime after this.]
no subject
[But he'll just smirk and snort at Luke's pointed look before going back to own food.]
[....]
[Yeah, he hates bear.]
