your hands protect the flames

Who: The Dragonsworn
What: The first arrival of the Dragonsworn goes a bit...awry.
Where: Scattered around the perimeter of Suramar.
When: Dawn on March 21st
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed

It is almost as if you've woken from a daydream when the ground meets your feet. The stench of fire is overpowering, and though dawn is just approaching in the canopies of Kalimdor, bright flashes of green can be seen between the branches of impossibly tall trees. If that doesn't snap you out of your surprise, then the sound of nearby spitting in demonic tongue may persuade you to get a grip and notice your surroundings -- you are not alone. There are others like you, huddled just a bit too close, with a somewhat familiar face keeping you from advancing further. Looking down at your hands may briefly reveal a momentary flash of color, but nothing lasting more than a few seconds.

The mages of each flight take the helm of their charges, and they are quick to notice any movement from their groups despite channeling some sort of spell to keep you protected. Stray fire will bounce off an invisible shield that ripples when anything make contact with it. There seems to be nothing in sight but your new comrades, and your guardian -- at least not on the ground. The sky has flying demons swarming a pack of dragons -- and the dragons are very clearly losing. Look just a bit farther, and you might find more dragons, though these clearly have different colored scales than the ones above your head.

While distracted, you may hear your guardian speak to you. "There may yet be wounded nearby -- if you care to, bring them here, and we will tend to them from the Sanctum." Briefly, they gesture skyward, toward the dragons flying overhead. "Do not bring to us any that are not our own, lest you invite their demise!"

But the mage is focused on casting -- they are in no position to halt your advance, and they know it. They speak with concern -- concern for you, concern for the dire situation at hand. The demonic cackling is drawing near. The forests are rapidly becoming overrun, and there are already a few dragons slain on the forest floor.

"Take care, Dragonsworn -- I am bringing us to safety, but it will take time. To wander far is to invite your ruin, and we cannot afford the loss of your life."

[OOC: You are free to mingle on this post as you choose, despite the flight groups being scattered through the forests around Suramar -- after this log, you will be separated into your sanctums, and your interactions will be watched much more closely. Attempting to enter the city itself will result in a vicious attack from demons that will kill. The Dragon Mages will be tagging sporadically to heroes of their matching flight, and the conclusion of this log will lead Dragonsworn through portals to their Sanctums.]

[Luke isn't really sure whose side to take, so he just takes a step back. This wasn't his idea. Please don't eat him, Mr. Dragon.

Said dragon snorts and huffs hot air in Zelos' face, but manages to get onto its legs. The problem, then, is that it can't fly-- and the rear leg is not looking great. Limping dragon incoming.]

I can't believe it.

[Hell hath no wrath like a bossy healer.]
wilder: (ya sure whatever)

[And this is why you'll never be a healer Luke. You're far too squishy. Zelos meanwhile doesn't even flinch at the hot air in his face.]

There you go! C'mon, I can't heal you right now, so stop complaining and make use of those three good legs to get to the portal! You're a dragon for crying out loud, stop whining!

[Turning his head to look at Luke. DID YOU THINK HE FORGOT ABOUT YOU?]

And Luke! Stop sniveling and help make sure this guy's path is clear! You haven't forgotten how to stab things with a sword, have you?

[Luke shrinks back visibly. He's never seen Zelos like this before. It reminds him way too much of Natalia and Tear when they get to be stressed out or frustrated. This is a thing that actually works out in Zelos' favor, though, as Luke draws his sword.]

Y-yes! I mean no! I'm working on it!

[Holy hell. He darts out ahead, hacking at any untoward foliage and making sure demons aren't going to drop down from the sky or something.]
wilder: (ready to fight)

Good! Then move it!

[Yep, Zelos can tell Luke finds its terrifying. It's meant to be. He doesn't have time to let this dragon think he's boss and can do whatever he wants. Luke's just the unfortunate victim in this]

[That and yeah, healers are terrifying creatures if pushed.]

[But with Luke clearing the path, Zelos keeps egging the dragon on. Sure enough, it begins to move slowly in the direction of the mages while shooting the occasional glare at Zelos. SCREW YOU TINY WEIRD LOOKING ELF.]

[However the problem with some many people and creatures right here with bright red is that it tends to be a giant target. So sure enough, it's not long until Luke might spot a small band of Felguards coming towards them]

[Luke spots the felguards. They're armed with huge axes and pretty terrifying teeth.]

Incoming!

[He charges forward but only a few yards, cleaving one of the demons nearly in half and sending it staggering into its buddies. That is the best way to deal with multiple enemies, tbh.]
wilder: (attack!)

Oh great!

[Since there are multiple ones, Zelos will draw his own sword and run in to help out. While one is trying to get out of the way of its cleaved buddy, Zelos slashes his own sword at it's chest. His cut isn't nearly as deep as Luke the slicer, but it's enough to make the demon stumble back in pain]

[Luke kicks one to the ground. Even without the capacity core and his normal artes, he still knows how to fight. Thankfully. There isn't too much artistry involved in a boot to the head. However, while he's trying to make sure that demon doesn't get back up, he's wide open on the side.

Shit shit shit--

He yanks his sword up just in time, but the parry is weak and he goes flying.]
wilder: (ow!)

Luke!

[He sees the boy go flying. He decides to attack the one that hit the kid while it's still recovering from it's parry with Luke. But he moves so much slower now than what he's used to and it's not fast enough to make the recovery window. The demon meets his axe with Zelos's sword in a metallic clash]

Jeez!

[Now it's become a battle of strength. While Zelos is muscled enough to hold his sword in place and not be thrown- he's clearly straining. It's a complete change from his spar with Luke just a few weeks ago]

Shit...am I really this much of a chump?
