Who: The Dragonsworn
What: The first arrival of the Dragonsworn goes a bit...awry.
Where: Scattered around the perimeter of Suramar.
When: Dawn on March 21st

It is almost as if you've woken from a daydream when the ground meets your feet. The stench of fire is overpowering, and though dawn is just approaching in the canopies of Kalimdor, bright flashes of green can be seen between the branches of impossibly tall trees. If that doesn't snap you out of your surprise, then the sound of nearby spitting in demonic tongue may persuade you to get a grip and notice your surroundings -- you are not alone. There are others like you, huddled just a bit too close, with a somewhat familiar face keeping you from advancing further. Looking down at your hands may briefly reveal a momentary flash of color, but nothing lasting more than a few seconds.

The mages of each flight take the helm of their charges, and they are quick to notice any movement from their groups despite channeling some sort of spell to keep you protected. Stray fire will bounce off an invisible shield that ripples when anything make contact with it. There seems to be nothing in sight but your new comrades, and your guardian -- at least not on the ground. The sky has flying demons swarming a pack of dragons -- and the dragons are very clearly losing. Look just a bit farther, and you might find more dragons, though these clearly have different colored scales than the ones above your head.

While distracted, you may hear your guardian speak to you. "There may yet be wounded nearby -- if you care to, bring them here, and we will tend to them from the Sanctum." Briefly, they gesture skyward, toward the dragons flying overhead. "Do not bring to us any that are not our own, lest you invite their demise!"

But the mage is focused on casting -- they are in no position to halt your advance, and they know it. They speak with concern -- concern for you, concern for the dire situation at hand. The demonic cackling is drawing near. The forests are rapidly becoming overrun, and there are already a few dragons slain on the forest floor.

"Take care, Dragonsworn -- I am bringing us to safety, but it will take time. To wander far is to invite your ruin, and we cannot afford the loss of your life."

[OOC: You are free to mingle on this post as you choose, despite the flight groups being scattered through the forests around Suramar -- after this log, you will be separated into your sanctums, and your interactions will be watched much more closely. Attempting to enter the city itself will result in a vicious attack from demons that will kill. The Dragon Mages will be tagging sporadically to heroes of their matching flight, and the conclusion of this log will lead Dragonsworn through portals to their Sanctums.]

[IT'S SUPER NICE. And he's noticing a lack of freak out about a dead guy being here...so maybe he was from that other timeline, that he kept running into in Exsilium]

If they are, I haven't seen them.

[he glances around. It's not like he wants more people from home, no matter their timeline. Still- it's a bit disappointing when he notices a definite lack of orange and white among the other arrivals]

[ yeah sorry zelos, he doesn't get your timeline angst..

.. he also doesn't get the whole 'two of us here might be a normal thing' thing either; as far as he's concerned, if the two of them are here, the others must be as well, right? so he stops looking around, but he's still frowning thoughtfully. ]

Yeah.. maybe we just got spread out.

That or they're back in our world still.

[He scans the area one more time. There's no way they'd let arrivals away from the barriers right? And Genis's friends were ones who would stand out even in this crowd]

[But..if it was just him and the kid, did that mean..]

[He goes for a more neutral face, while mentally kicking things. Of course the universe would leave the kid with him. If it was anyone else from their little group, he'd just try to avoid- but.]

[Ergh, conundrum.]

I don't know why it'd pick just us, but sometimes that's just what happens.

[Though he's pretty sure it's because the universe HATES him]

[ .. genis isn't so certain that it's nothing, but he's not about to pry into zelos of all people, especially under such .. chaotic circumstances as this.

Aha, I dunno if this is really the time for exposition! You know, with the battle and all?

.. but he isn't wrong, so genis begrudges the answer for now, even though his look clearly says we will speak of this later foolish zelos!! ]

Anyway, can you still use your magic?

My magic? Yeah, of course! Why wouldn't I? What kind of a question is that?

[ BEWILDERED.. does that sort of thing happen?? granted, he hasn't tried to use a spell yet, and now that he thinks about it, the mana here feels kind of.. strange. if it can even be called mana at all.. ]

Oh, not much of one, really. Just, my own magic seems to be....not working.

nevertheless, the fireball that genis attempts to summon and fling is met with.. unsurprisingly, nothing at all. he gapes at his hands for a moment, tries again, and, looking mildly fearful -- ]

[He watches the failed attempt. It's unsurprising considering his own magic failed, but it's concerning none the less. He knows Genis's magic is his only real defense. Kid couldn't help it, he was too tiny to wield a sword and he doubted Iselia had much in the way of fight training for kids.]

[Still...did this mean he'd have to work double-time to make sure the kid lived too? Argh. What a pain. If Genis wasn't a child, he'd be tempted to ditch him.]

[But Genis was a kid so maybe he should try....being comforting. Say something nice. The kid is in a horrible situation]

because yeah, this kid doesn't know how to melee if his life depended on it; his powerful spells have always been his main offense, and without them he feels like a sitting duck.

[But yeah he doesn't blame you about the sitting duck feeling. He'll open up his jacket and pull out a dagger and sheathe he keeps tucked inside, offering it to Genis. It's a nice dagger. Not one of the fancier ones in design, in fact it's pretty plain. But it's sharp and good quality make wise.]

Here. It's not much of a throwing knife, so don't try that.

[Plus it's not like he knows how to get it replaced in this world!]

And...I guess you can just stick close to me until we know what's going on with the magic.

genis just sort of.. stares at the dagger in his palm for a few long moments, as if testing its weight, its solidity, its ability to kill all the things. he doesn't look too confident, but.. it's better than nothing. ]
