your hands protect the flames
Who: The Dragonsworn
What: The first arrival of the Dragonsworn goes a bit...awry.
Where: Scattered around the perimeter of Suramar.
When: Dawn on March 21st
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed
It is almost as if you've woken from a daydream when the ground meets your feet. The stench of fire is overpowering, and though dawn is just approaching in the canopies of Kalimdor, bright flashes of green can be seen between the branches of impossibly tall trees. If that doesn't snap you out of your surprise, then the sound of nearby spitting in demonic tongue may persuade you to get a grip and notice your surroundings -- you are not alone. There are others like you, huddled just a bit too close, with a somewhat familiar face keeping you from advancing further. Looking down at your hands may briefly reveal a momentary flash of color, but nothing lasting more than a few seconds.
The mages of each flight take the helm of their charges, and they are quick to notice any movement from their groups despite channeling some sort of spell to keep you protected. Stray fire will bounce off an invisible shield that ripples when anything make contact with it. There seems to be nothing in sight but your new comrades, and your guardian -- at least not on the ground. The sky has flying demons swarming a pack of dragons -- and the dragons are very clearly losing. Look just a bit farther, and you might find more dragons, though these clearly have different colored scales than the ones above your head.
While distracted, you may hear your guardian speak to you. "There may yet be wounded nearby -- if you care to, bring them here, and we will tend to them from the Sanctum." Briefly, they gesture skyward, toward the dragons flying overhead. "Do not bring to us any that are not our own, lest you invite their demise!"
But the mage is focused on casting -- they are in no position to halt your advance, and they know it. They speak with concern -- concern for you, concern for the dire situation at hand. The demonic cackling is drawing near. The forests are rapidly becoming overrun, and there are already a few dragons slain on the forest floor.
"Take care, Dragonsworn -- I am bringing us to safety, but it will take time. To wander far is to invite your ruin, and we cannot afford the loss of your life."
[OOC: You are free to mingle on this post as you choose, despite the flight groups being scattered through the forests around Suramar -- after this log, you will be separated into your sanctums, and your interactions will be watched much more closely. Attempting to enter the city itself will result in a vicious attack from demons that will kill. The Dragon Mages will be tagging sporadically to heroes of their matching flight, and the conclusion of this log will lead Dragonsworn through portals to their Sanctums.]

Again, not paying much attention right then to flight colors, Rose reached with her free hand to grab the armored one's arm and haul them up with a strength her body doesn't look like it should possess.]
On your feet, space man.
no subject
Coordination seems to be a finer point she's missing, thankfully. The elbow slung back in an ill timed attempt to clip her would-be helper hasn't a hope of reaching Rose, twisting her about enough that steadying herself requires her to accept the offer of aid.]
--the hell're you doing?
[Snappish tone ends abruptly as Carolina forces herself to look at Rose, eyes still somewhat unfocused. She's not entirely herself right now, clearly.]
Who..?
no subject
[Rose easily avoids that elbow and if it wasn't the kind of reaction she, herself, would have given, she probably just would have let the other woman fall right back down to the ground.]
And it's Rose. You're welcome. Now, unless you want to be demon food, you might want to not be laying around. That armor's gotta be good for something, right?
no subject
She would like to let go, but balance is an unsteady thing right now, and later she'll likely appreciate the fact Rose didn't let her faceplant right back into the dirt. ]
Rose. [..right. demons. She turns her head carefully to look back, grimacing] ..Can't say I've had to fight those before.
no subject
They apparently die just like most things do since stabbing them a lot works. You got a laser gun to go with that getup? [Hey, it didn't hurt to ask just in case it's true!] It'd probably work real well. And I didn't hear a return introduction, kemosabe.
[See, there it was again.]
no subject
..Didn't exactly have time to pack when I left. [no sign of her helmet, either. shit.] Not sure magnum rounds would have much effect on those, if dragons are struggling. [and she can't believe she just said that.]
That's because I didn't give one. [She does her best to straighten up, which is easier than it should be, given what she remembers. Still:] Agent Carolina. Guessing you're not a native here, either.
no subject
Guess if you're adding the 'agent' onto you introduction, I really should add 'guardian' onto mine. Don't need anyone thinking I'm a civilian or something. But you're right; I'm not from here.
no subject
Heh. [head cants slightly, before gloved palm lifts to press against her temple] No chance of that, even if you're not UNSC.
[ There was a roar overhead, before something red descended at speed, half-lit with green fire as it collides with a demon down below. Instinct had Carolina ducking, even reflexively reaching for weapons she'd just checked for and knew weren't there. ]
And this is not Sidewinder.
no subject
I take it Sidewinder is your world?
[Rose quickly moved back to make sure she wasn't about to get squashed under a dragon-demon comet, though it was clear she was planning on springing onto the demon once it hits the ground from the way her muscles are coiled and the blood-covered stake is once more readied in her hand. She just needed an opening...]
no subject
No. Just the last one I was on before.. [a hesitation] Before here. I think.
[ And then Rose is moving and Carolina is stepping back, still winded but now assessing, or trying to, the pressure behind her eyes building again. It's quiet, too quiet inside her head, while all the world's screaming in stereo. In spite of this, instinct drives her to widen her stance, defensive, as the other woman steps closer to the demon. ]

[Rose tossed that tidbit of info to Carolina just before she ducked a flailing wing and then darted in. Pretty fast, she jumped onto the dragon's leg and then propelled herself up onto the back of the demon. One hand grasping one of its horns and legs clutching about it, she tried to stake it in the eye. She'd have gone for the heart, but her academy had been lacking in a demon anatomy class. Eyes seemed the next best option.]

[ She was fairly certain a world with dragons would have been of note to the UNSC, if only in ONI's circles, even if it were on the outer most edge of the outer colonies.
But. They were here now, with no apparent means of returning where they'd come from.
Only once she's sure she's found her footing, that she's centered, does Carolina eye both Rose and the demon. The dragon wasn't faring well before it crashed down next to them, and is instantly dismissed. Her fingers flexed, stretching the black material of her gloves, before pushed herself into movement. A staggered start, but one she picks herself out of quickly enough, darting in to drive a series of fast kicks and fist blows against the demon's 'ankles' while Rose deals with its eyes. ]

Then the demon's knee buckled under a blow and Rose almost pitched over the demon's head. She held onto the horns tight, but knew she wasn't going to be able to dodge the next swipe. She could only hope it would only be a glancing blow and braced herself to take it.
She wasn't sure what happened, but there was a flash of bright light between her and the claw. Hell, it even looked like the claw bounced off the light. Light wasn't solid, so what the hell just happened? While her mind tried to figure out where that had come from, not knowing it was herself, she took advantage of the situation to finally get the stake in the demon's eye.]
no subject
Avoiding claws and being stepped on wasn't as simple as Carolina had first expected, if only due to her own earlier injuries prior to arrival. Her reaction times were slow, far slower than she wanted and expected of herself, but she was still able to avoid taking more than a glancing blow when the demon tries to go for her rather than the woman hanging off his head.
One particularly lucky series of blows was followed by a leap, right foot lashing out in a roundhouse kick. The strike bringing the monster to its literal knee is unexpected, but pleasing, even if it is a brief inconvience to Rose. That flash of light does cause her to back off immediately in alarm, more space put between her and the target, while mindful of the dragon still labouring beside them.
Just in time to see the demon begin screeching when the other woman slammed something into its eye. ]
no subject
With a battle yell, she pushed the grossness out of her mind and kept shoving the stake in until eventually the demon fell over.
...onto her. At least it wasn't moving, but damn was it heavy.]
Uh... Little help here?
no subject
[ Stepping around Rose, the spiky ridges along the demon's were eyed dubiously, before Carolina widened her stand, seized hold, and pushed. Even with her armor boosting her strength, moving the corpse isn't simple endeavor, but she keeps on shoving, until the head rolls far enough to one side that Rose should be able to wriggle free. With a bit of work, anyway. ]
no subject
She stuck to having her hair in her face.]
Thanks. You're pretty strong.
no subject
The armor helps. [She eyes the ichor] Not bad yourself. Hope that's not going to be the only way to take those things down.
[ The dragon who'd also been fighting doesn't seem to be moving much, either. ..Well, shit. ]
no subject
Anyways, I really should get back to guarding Morpheus' scrawny ass. Try not to die, Carolina.
[With a wave, Rose trotted off back toward the Green lines.]
no subject
Watch your back.
[ She called back at Rose's departure. The name 'Morpheus' didn't ring a great many bells, but was still.. familiar. Perhaps she'd find out later.. For now, she turned and headed back the other direction. Perhaps she'd find more answers there. ]
