your hands protect the flames

Who: The Dragonsworn
What: The first arrival of the Dragonsworn goes a bit...awry.
Where: Scattered around the perimeter of Suramar.
When: Dawn on March 21st
Warnings: Please PM the mods if any warnings are needed

It is almost as if you've woken from a daydream when the ground meets your feet. The stench of fire is overpowering, and though dawn is just approaching in the canopies of Kalimdor, bright flashes of green can be seen between the branches of impossibly tall trees. If that doesn't snap you out of your surprise, then the sound of nearby spitting in demonic tongue may persuade you to get a grip and notice your surroundings -- you are not alone. There are others like you, huddled just a bit too close, with a somewhat familiar face keeping you from advancing further. Looking down at your hands may briefly reveal a momentary flash of color, but nothing lasting more than a few seconds.

The mages of each flight take the helm of their charges, and they are quick to notice any movement from their groups despite channeling some sort of spell to keep you protected. Stray fire will bounce off an invisible shield that ripples when anything make contact with it. There seems to be nothing in sight but your new comrades, and your guardian -- at least not on the ground. The sky has flying demons swarming a pack of dragons -- and the dragons are very clearly losing. Look just a bit farther, and you might find more dragons, though these clearly have different colored scales than the ones above your head.

While distracted, you may hear your guardian speak to you. "There may yet be wounded nearby -- if you care to, bring them here, and we will tend to them from the Sanctum." Briefly, they gesture skyward, toward the dragons flying overhead. "Do not bring to us any that are not our own, lest you invite their demise!"

But the mage is focused on casting -- they are in no position to halt your advance, and they know it. They speak with concern -- concern for you, concern for the dire situation at hand. The demonic cackling is drawing near. The forests are rapidly becoming overrun, and there are already a few dragons slain on the forest floor.

"Take care, Dragonsworn -- I am bringing us to safety, but it will take time. To wander far is to invite your ruin, and we cannot afford the loss of your life."

[OOC: You are free to mingle on this post as you choose, despite the flight groups being scattered through the forests around Suramar -- after this log, you will be separated into your sanctums, and your interactions will be watched much more closely. Attempting to enter the city itself will result in a vicious attack from demons that will kill. The Dragon Mages will be tagging sporadically to heroes of their matching flight, and the conclusion of this log will lead Dragonsworn through portals to their Sanctums.]

"Actually no - not human. I just look pretty close to one. I'm a dhampir," Rose replied. "And Draenei. Got it." Hopefully she'd remember that.

"There isn't any of you in my world. I mean the elves look mostly like what fairy tale stories back home describe them as - though the ears are longer than I was expecting - but no Draenei."

"Dhampir?" Vas parrots, raising a brow. The woman's comments strike her as odd - she knows that humans and elves exist, but she is not of this planet? This, the only planet with those peoples?

Curious. Very curious.

"I am... confused. You are not from Azeroth, yes? How do your people know of humans and elves?" she asks cautiously as she this 'dhampir' closely.

"I'm from Earth," Rose replied with a shrug. "On Earth, humans tend to think they're alone. All for the best, really. Aside from them, there are Moroi, Strigoi and Dhampirs like me. Dhampirs are what happened when humans and Moroi got all down and dirty."

Her eyes flitted the the sky as some dragons flew overhead. "On Earth, beings like dragons and elves are mythological. Then again, most humans think vampires are mythological. I guess it is possible Earth has them and the rest of the world just hasn't noticed."

She shakes her head, tendrils sliding over the front of her tabard. "I have never heard of this Earth. And Azeroth is the only planet that has humans, unless the Dark Portal led elsewhere."

At least that would explain why she thought that elves and dragons were not real. An isolated population on an alien planet, far-removed from their ancestors... it could be as mythical to them as Argus is to her.

"Preeeeeety sure the dragon dudes said the demons were spawning all over the universe. I remember some nasty greenish flames and some of those things showing up in West Virginia just before I ended up here."

Rose paused. "Then again, those could have just been inbred hillbillies. It was West Virginia."

"Yes, Fel fire," Vas says, brightening up. Whatever a hillbilly or a Virginia is, it's gone completely over her head. Demons, though - demons, she knows.

"The Twisting Nether connects many, many worlds together. The Legion travels through the Nether, taking over those worlds. They can spread to any place that the Nether touches," she explains, making a little twisting motion with her hand.

"You mean, like a wormhole? I didn't sign up for any freaky science fiction stuff."

And the moment it was out of her mouth, she realized she was from a vampire society. Wow, did that make her feel stupid. At least no one knows that Moroi and Strigoi were vampires.

It feels like every other thing this... 'dhampir' says is completely nonsensical, and Vas has to bite back a question about what worms have to do with the Twisting Nether. Probably nothing, since this woman doesn't seem to have any idea about how the Legion operates.

"Ehh, maybe? It is not so important right now," she says in an attempt to put the subject behind them. "Which flight have you been sworn to?"

All Rose got regarding the Legion was that they were evil and trying to destroy everything, including her world. For the most part, that was more than enough for her to go kick some demon ass.

"Which flight?" Oh yeah. The dragon color. "Green."
