A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

Indeed. She's the one with the red hair and horns. [He doesn't mention the fact that she's significantly less clothed than everyone else; dragons probably have different morals than everyone else, and he figures that it goes along with her role as representing, er, fertility and all that.]

She's at least less cryptic than Nozdormu, I'll give her that much.

[He's had that confusion happen before, although that was partially due to an entire culture thinking he was evil because of a malicious artificial intelligence that inhabited a carving of his face. You know, just a day in the life of the Doctor.]

Well, I mean, things normally taste different from regeneration to regeneration anyway; I couldn't stand pears in my last body, now it's apples. It's sort of a mixed bag, really - you never know what's going to happen.

[His instinctive reaction is to protest that she's too young to be caught up in this war, but he knows that children never like to be told that they're too young for anything - and that they're usually capable of much more than adults think they are. It still irks him, though.]

Nan. [ arya squints at him. ] Why do you call yourself "the"?

Because that's who I am, the Doctor. [He says it in a matter of fact tone of voice, as if having a title instead of a name is perfectly normal to him.] You can just call me Doctor, though, if you'd like. Everyone does.

[Okay well tea is tempting--] Maybe when you perfect it, I'll try some. [See! He can be reasonable! Even with the Doctor, despite how the Master pretty much badmouths the Doctor to everyone at any given time. So what! It's normal! And -- wait... what. Sheep? Are you kidding him? No. Goddammit, Doctor, no.] Ha. Ha. Very funny. And even if I believed you, why would I be worried about a damn sheep? [For being a Warlock, the Master has yet to understand the concept of "crowd control."]

You know, you shouldn't question what other people can do with their powers. [The Doctor smirks a little bit, and although he knows he probably shouldn't, he concentrates for a moment. An arcane glow surrounds his hands, and with a soft 'pop', the Master turns into a sheep. Of course, polymorphing is still kind of exhausting, and while he waits for the Master to change back, he fishes the jammy dodger back out of his pocket and eats it. Mmm, delicious mana food.]

He makes a bleating sound. Translated, it would be: what. the. fuck.

He shuts up. Sits down. Tries not to look utterly pitiful that this actually just happened to him, that this is what Azeroth has made his life become. Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to possibly grant the Doctor these kind of powers?

He thinks, as a sheep, his drums are quieter.

Or maybe he just thinks too much as a sheep.

When the spell fades, he's still sitting, a blank expression on his face. He's a bit afraid to open his mouth again. Maybe he'll still bleat. Maybe there's a residual effect.

Maybe he honest-to-god doesn't know what to say in response to this.]

"But that's true of any relationship! I mean, I'm risking getting myself hurt trusting any of the people here, including you, but I'm willing to do it beclaws I don't think it makes sense for you to hurt me even if I wanted to. Also you don't seem to be the type of guy who'd do that, but that's not even the point."

She accepts the sandwich with a giggle that manages to wipe away the aggravated expression pointing out the silliness of that viewpoint gave her, but she can't help but frown again at the implications of what he's saying and how afraid these people must be as she bites into it.

You don't? [A pang of worry strikes her, as the only person who's ever said something like that to her, Equius, was a staunch vegetarian.]

You don't have a purrblem with meat, do you? I think there are some vegetables and bread around too...

[Ymir blinks a bit. Not only did that not work, it went completely over this woman's head. Her hand rubs the back of her head, looking a tad lost as she wracks her brain for how to deal with this.

Her throat clears.]

But people have a way of putting more and more emphasis on avoiding pain, instead of remembering why they risk it. Instead of offering chances, they demand proofs. Instead of trying to maximize the potential gain, they try to minimize the potential harm. And instead of taking each situation as it comes, they make snap judgments from the past."

I just told you, I guessed. But I have a lot of experience with the Aspects and their flights, so it's an educated guess. If I guessed right, it would impress you. If I guessed wrong, it would at least be a good conversation. So the only way to really lose the guess would be not to guess at all!

[He flashes her a wink, then just as quickly, flips the fish over. It's only seared on the one side, certainly not close to cooking through.]

[She wondered if the red flight's leader would approach, but hadn't wanted to presume. She nods sharply in answer.]

It was my suggestion, but several others have done their own parts. If any sort of effort is going to be successful against our mutual enemy, then working out how to continue working together is the next step.

[ She's uncertain how successful this first one will be. But she's...not hopeful, exactly. Cautiously optimistic. Though you'd never guess. ]

Assuming the village leader is willing to talk again, it may be worth asking if there've been any reports of other locations with similar signs.

Where do you plan to go once this one ends someday?

Is that to match what suits you, or just the paycheck?

Yeah, it might be.

Me? [He shrugs and pushes a loose lock of hair back] There's someone I gotta find. After that, well...there's a couple folks that offered their worlds. But if I can't reach those, I'll settle for any world that's not being torn apart by some inter-dimensional bad.

Carolina didn't even turn around at the whining noises, mindful of her own meal while the raptor wheddled. It was also a bad example for the whelps if she took time to feed someone else's charge.

That didn't stop the young raptor from looking adorably silly while attempting it. "Where's your partner, huh? He didn't get lost, I hope."
