A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

If I was going to make you cry, my dear, I would do much worse than that.

[the way she says it is almost as if she's done it before] But I would not have come were you not here, so . . .

You know, putting it like that makes it sound kinda ominous.

[he chuckles] Thanks, that's nice to hear.

[she just grins, impish. She liked Kaneis, she wouldn't want to threaten him anyway]

How have you been?

[He gives a light shrug]

I'm not dead, that's something.

[Annnd to get the topic off himself] What about you? Feeling better after what happened?

[but what if she doesn't want to talk about herself?]

I have put it out of mind. Though I could say the same about myself - the not being dead bit, that is. [what a couple of optimists]

[He nods]

Right. Luke told me some about it...didn't sound like much fun.

[To put it lightly]

Not really, no. Though . . . [and here she goes, trying to sound slightly optimistic and managing it for once] I did meet a few people who are enjoyable to talk to. That was nice.

Oh, that's great. Nothing like being kidnapped as a chance to make friends.

I have made friends in worse circumstances.

Should I ask what?

Well, I did work as a mercenary. [she grins, all teeth and deviousness]

And then there were the undead in Exsilium; I made a few friends during that, as well.

Oh yeah, I remember that incident.

I only ended up with a dead rabbit.

How did you end up with a dead rabbit . . . ?

My roommate was a kid. She found a rabbit and took it home as a pet.

Few days later, it became a zombie and we had to kill it.

Oh . . . oh dear. [that's actually really sad] How terrible . . .

We nearly ended up with a dead werewolf, but we managed to save him, between me and another boy who had borrowed healing magic as well.

Yeah. It was a pretty hard blow for her.

[a beat] Wait. That whole having werewolves thing wasn't a joke?

[she doesn't want to think about sad children, so werewolves are the distraction she goes for]

Not at all. There were . . . three, that I knew, but if more had arrived I did not hear about it. The boy who was helping me heal the other was also a werewolf - Peter and Isaac.

Oh, wow. I had no idea.

Were they...nice? I dunno, I've never met a werewolf before.

They were very nice young men, yes. Brats, at times, but then again, all boys at that age seem to be.

Hey, what are you saying? I'm a young man and I'm not like that. I'm a perfect angel!

[Says the lying liar who lies]

I do not think you are as young as they are . . . unless I am mistaken? [she leans forward, pretending to study him]

[Offense!]

Twenty-three is still young!

[she blinks, sitting back. Then she bursts into laughter, though briefly, as she covers her mouth to stifle it]

My, you are young. But not as young as my bratty wolves, at least. Perhaps you are more mature than them?

[he snorts]

Wow, being called more mature than a pack of young wolves? There's an achievement I never thought I'd get.

[she grins, entirely amused]

Well, I am only assuming you are.
