What: Carolina The Redsworn have invited everyone to dinner! Let's see how well diplomatic relations between the flights can be improved, eh?

A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

That happened a lot in the last conflict too. [He shrugs] Still not sure why.

[The Initiative said it was something wonky with the transporter...but he was never too trusting of their explanations. But even so, he isn't going to complain about Goku or Genis being gone. Genis was better off at home, and Goku well, he was a pain in the ass.]

[He sets his plate down and leans forwards on the palms of his hands as he observes the crowd]

I expected about this many. The real question though is just about how many of them are here to scope out another Sanctum.

[And whose here just for free food, but he can't really fault those people]

If it's anything like what brought us here, Krasus may know. Or one of the Bronzeflight. [And Wash is a Bronzesworn. She could always ask him to find out]

[ She'd never met Genis, but Vegeta had been annoying - though familiar with technology. Something decidingly lacking around here.]

Probably most of them. I know I would be, were the shoe on the other foot. [And the free food happens to taste good, surprise surprise.] But this gives us a chance to size up them as well. I don't think we'll have very long until something else happens that requires us to partner with some of them.

[wilder]

Yeah...maybe we should ask.

[Meaning you Carolina, because frankly he's not sure he really wants to know.]

[But he shrugs at her other comment]

Hey, I don't mind working with the other flights. I trust most of them as much as I trust my own.

[Which means barely at all. But hey that's how he rolls!]

[guerriera]

Either he'll know, or it'll be another thing only bronze dragons can answer about. [shrug. later. she'll likely ask either way]

[there's a slight arch of an eyebrow at that one] Well that fills me with reassurance. [not..that she trusts many here, either. Just enough, but only when her head isn't aching] Given you had to make nice with Silverglen while in the company of some, I suppose that worked out well for you.

--Huh. Looks like you have a fanclub.

[by which she means the three red whelps peeking over from behind one of the larger roots behind them. CLEARLY THE MOST STEALTHY OF BABY DRAGONS.]

[wilder]

I didn't get eaten by bear-people, so I guess so! [Because that's clear evidence of things going well. Great standards he has]

Hm? [he looks behind him to notice the whelps] - Oh! Ha! What are you guys doing there?

[guerriera]

[hey, it's progress!] Not cousins to the ones our hosts were serving us when we first got here, I hope.

[a small smile for the whelps] They seem to like you. Or maybe just your food?

[ She'll have to ask one of the dragons here if feeding the babies leftovers should be avoided - the last thing they'd want is for one to get sick on their account. Or end up with bad habits. ]

[wilder]

Who knows. They weren't in the mood for talking, so I didn't ask.

[What with the demonic corruption and all]

It's probably my food. I'm never been one for kids. [Total lie, but it'd be uncool to admit otherwise!]

[guerriera]

Seems like a lot of things around here prefer to attack and not talk. [hmm] Makes our job easier at least half the time, anyway. See anything interesting while you were at it?

[ whelps were dragon children, but seemed very pet-like. Carolina didn't have a soft spot for children, exactly, but these ones were cute. Bitey, but cute. ]

Hnn. Hope they don't expect us to cook them meals when they're full grown too.

[wilder]

Yeah, but this was different than the elves's hostility. It's like they were barely aware of anything going on around them.

[So incredibly cute. And a couple are trying to see if they can get closer to that plate..!]

Heh, don't worry. You'll be dead before these guys are fully grown.

[guerriera]

Like they were drugged, or under some external influence? [Not that she can imagine crediting bears with much sense]

[ Carolina's own plate has been 'neglected', but she's keeping an eye on the sneaky dragon childrens. Right up until Zelos uses the 'D' word, which earns him a briefly blank look, before she makes a face. ]

If we're already dead, I doubt how long we survive here will make a difference to them. [she's glowering a moment, before taking a bite out of one of her skewers] But that means it'll be the next lot who get to deal with them, I suppose.

[wilder]

Corruption, most likely.

[Given the evidence of legion weapons with their leader, and how they were tearing apart their own once carefully cared for home]

Heh, I meant your natural lifespan- not if you'll survive the war. Dragons can take over a century to mature, depending on the breed. [Seeing some creep towards him, he tosses them a piece of meat] Hopefully the war won't go on that long though.

[guerriera]

Well that's not a good sign.

[ And here she was hoping the headaches would stay away. With one hand minding her plate and the other gripping one of the skewers, Carolina had to settle for looking grumpy. ]

How close was their lair to Silverglen? Or is it further toward Sin'thalas?

[ Thank goodness Sanctum portals didn't have any one set location to make defending them a priority. She watches the little ones rasp and bicker as the offered meat flies, one tug of war sending a whelp head over tail. ]

By Vas' account, the Legion have been at work for a long time. But that's a nice hope.

[wilder]

It was close to Silverglen, that's why they sent us to clean it out. They were worried about a threat.

[That or to have them get eaten by bears. Either way, win for Silverglen]

Well you know me, I'm an optimist.

[guerriera]

As they should be. If something's corrupting things that close to the village, we likely have more demons incoming some time.

[ A short term win for Silverglen, certainly. But now Carolina was considering expanding her usual scouting route to visit this den's location.. ]

[The now meatless skewer waggles at him - that food vanished fast.] One with a realism streak. But I can't say it wouldn't be nice for one war somewhere to end early.

[wilder]

Probably.

[He gives a little sigh, but doesn't seem all that disturb by the idea of encroaching demons. Just slightly tired. Since hey, why react to anything]

[And it did. Meanwhile Zelos's dish remains untouched beyond what he gave to the dragons]

Yeah. And it'd be extra nice if I'm not dragged into another one right after this one ends.

[guerriera]

Assuming the village leader is willing to talk again, it may be worth asking if there've been any reports of other locations with similar signs.

[ something she'll handle - or try to.

His comment earns a thoughtful headtilt. ]

Where do you plan to go once this one ends someday?

[wilder]

Yeah, it might be.

Me? [He shrugs and pushes a loose lock of hair back] There's someone I gotta find. After that, well...there's a couple folks that offered their worlds. But if I can't reach those, I'll settle for any world that's not being torn apart by some inter-dimensional bad.

[guerriera]

Hmm. [consider it done]

People you met during that last war you mentioned?

[Someone he has to find, huh. Assuming she wasn't dead back home (even if that didn't seem likely, if she was honest) there were people and things she needed to find herself.]

Given that they can't send us back directly on request right now, perhaps when things are more settled, they'll know what they're doing - or how others who appeared left without warning.

[wilder]

Something like that.

[Easiest explanation, anyway. But that gives him a definite frown]

I don't mind finding out where the ones who left went, but...trying to get back just cause we don't wanna be here has a chance of not ending well.

[guerriera]

How hard do you think it will it be to find who you're looking for?

Hmmf. [she's been involved in enough experiments with lack of information before; she doesn't desire to be subject to that again any time soon.] Alexstrasza said that time was the domain of the Bronze dragons. So. If it means waiting for the Bronze dragonflight to sort out their magic, I'll wait.

[wilder]

You mean how hard is finding a single person from a single timeline among countless planets, alternate timelines and dimensions? Oh I'm sure it'll be a cinch!

[he shakes his head at the statement.]

It's more than sorting out magic. The Burning Legion is an inter-dimensional force. There's a risk that if we make a gateway or portal to another place- the Burning Legion could piggyback along.

[guerriera]

[ unimpressed look is unimpressed, Kaneis. ]

It'll give you something to keep yourself occupied if nothing else. [is she being sarcastic? ..she's being sarcastic, isn't she.]

If we fail, that's going to happen anyway. The point of our being here is to defeat them to prevent such a thing occurring in the first place. [nomnom there goes skewer #2] It won't be a quick or easy process. If the Bronze dragons have a means to stop it reoccurring later, I'm not the one to ask.

[wilder]

Oh yeah. I'd hate to get bored.

[He glances away a bit at her statement. Maybe there's something more he could say at this, but he chooses not to] Mm...yeah. Guess you're right.

[guerriera]

Well, you could always stand to do a bit more training. [you slacker]

If I'm not...Well. They say 'you can never go home again'. [she trails off, concentrates on chewing her food for a minute, before shrugging] Just have to worry about it when we get to it.

So, any of our guests happen to stand out to you?

[wilder]

Yeah right, training's boring if you're not a perfectionist.

[he chooses not to remark about not going home again. Too personal. He instead stretches as he answers her next question] Oh I don't know- the guy who framed me's here, so I guess that's someone.
