A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

Breaded frozen fish fingers found on Earth, dipped in custard. I had a touch of regeneration sickness that day, and nothing else tasted right.

[He still can't tolerate the taste of apples, in fact - but that's not unusual. His last regeneration loathed pears.]

Actually, I think my taste buds in this body might be a bit off, period. [He frowns a little at the thought.] Do you know, I tried jelly babies again not long before I came here, and they didn't taste the same at all? [Pause. Probably best to explain to the nice dragon lady that he's not actually eating babies.] Er, they're a sort of small sweet, not really jelly or babies.

[ Yes, don't let her think anyone is eating babies. Baby eating is a sensitive topic to dragon mama. ]

Oh my, is that common? For one's taste buds to be off in their body? [ Really, she's not entirely sure what she can say to all of that. It's a lot to take in. ]

[He's had that confusion happen before, although that was partially due to an entire culture thinking he was evil because of a malicious artificial intelligence that inhabited a carving of his face. You know, just a day in the life of the Doctor.]

Well, I mean, things normally taste different from regeneration to regeneration anyway; I couldn't stand pears in my last body, now it's apples. It's sort of a mixed bag, really - you never know what's going to happen.

Regeneration... you mean to claim that whenever something happens to your body, you regrow it back and in doing so, your... tastes differ?

Ah, well, the founders of Time Lord society were a pompous lot - hence the name - and figured that once they'd harnessed the power of a black hole to fuel time travel, defeating death would be simple for them. 'Course, they also went completely mad in the end, so I suppose that's the moral of the story about playing god, eh?

Mmhm. If you make your regenerations last long enough, then you can live for, well, hundreds upon hundreds of years. I'm not terribly cautious, and I'm more than a thousand years old. [He's pretty sure that the Aspects are quite a bit older than that, if younger than his race as a whole.]

[ They are, but a thousand years old is a long time for one who shares the appearance of the younger races. Most humans here are lucky to live to their elder years, though the Kaldorei themselves fare better. ]
