A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

[She audibly takes a breath. What he's asking for is not so easily condensed into a short explanation.]

The Legion is almost as good at corrupting living things as they are at eliminating them. A warlock can easily transform animals into mad hellbeasts. People can also be corrupted, but less easily. Warlocks can turn weak-willed persons easily, but not strong-willed persons. The stubborn and the faithful are more commonly killed and raised as mindless abominations, because the warlock cannot impose their will upon them.

Willing corruption happens when one embraces fel magic to empower oneself. This kind of warlock often believes that they are too strong-willed to fall into total corruption, but they are wrong. Even the smallest touch of fel magic can destroy one's soul and body. Constant use of fel magic only hastens that destruction, but the warlock will deny that they have been corrupted. And so they go on, until they are irredeemable.

[he listens, intently. He keeps his ethics debate regarding warlocks to himself since frankly, he does agree with Vas that using fel magic seems like a terrible idea. But you know, not everyone at this gathering may agree and he doesn't feel like getting into another round of "not all warlocks"]

Hmm, okay.

So a den of...Furbolgs? Yeah, those were the guys we had to fight to clear our name. Can't say I'm very familiar with bear people, but they were acting pretty strange. Tearing up their home, unable to be reasoned with- practically unaware of anything going on. Would that be the same sort of thing as what warlocks can do?

[She looks at him with renewed interest. Furbolgs are well-known to her people, even though they prefer to leave the bear-people alone. But as primitive as they are, this sounds completely unlike them.]

It would be easy for a skilled warlock, and not very difficult for unskilled warlocks working together. The Legion has turned less primitive peoples against each other.

[She pauses, folding her arms across her chest.]

Did any of them have red skin or green, glowing eyes?

[he thinks about it]

I don't know. They were covered in fur and towered over me, so I didn't notice their eyes too much. [Ah the problems with being one of the not super tall races]

But- oh! I noticed, at least I think it was the leader- he was wielding axes like the ones those felguard guys do.

[Her eyes widen. She slowly lowers her arms and her hooves dig into the ground. No.]

How close is the barrow to Silverglen? Were there any other animals acting strangely?

Close enough, that's why they had us take 'em out.

[he shrugs; he had been too preoccupied with his own stuff to really pay attention to the forest] I didn't notice.

[And gauging her reaction...] I take it there's not a way to cure it, is there?

[Vas shakes her head, but she's still quite tense.]

I wouldn't know without a proper investigation. Fel magic is very potent, and it's possible that they were contaminated while defending themselves.

Whatever the case may be, the barrow grounds should be purified and blessed. Those dens will continue to curse the surrounding area if the fel energies are not contained.

[wilder]

[Oh lovely, it can contaminate you while you're defending yourself? Just. Great]

Purified and blessed, huh? [He frowns. There were rituals like that within the Church of Martel, but being good at that stuff was never exactly Zelos's forte] Can you do that?

I can. I imagine that Maridian can too, and Luke will be able to with practice.

[wilder]

Luke? [He wasn't expecting that] He uses fonon stuff. What's he got to do with anything?

[telaari]

[Vas tilts her head at him. What's a 'fonon'? Luke didn't mention that before. She'll have to ask him about it later.]

I'm not sure what you're talking about, Kaneis. But Luke was very clearly chosen by the Light when he arrived here on Azeroth. I have been advising him on his journey to becoming a paladin.

[wilder]

...Oh. Goodie.

[The slight sass comes out before he could stop himself. He bites back a little and brushes some loose strands of hair to behind his ears. Considering his light angel powers just taken away his ability to eat, he was less than thrilled to hear right now that the Light had chosen someone he cared for.]

[But what could he really do? It wasn't like it was something he had any say in. And so, he decides to simply go on with the topic at hand.]

Well, whatever. So okay, if I show you where the den is- you can do that whole exorcism-thingy and it should be all good, right?

[Well, that came out of nowhere. What does he have against paladins? He's been getting along with - alright, tolerating - Mar and herself. She blinks, and makes sure that she words her answer very carefully so as not to provoke him.]

It is not my area of expertise, but I can consecrate the grounds in and around the barrow dens. That should neutralize the fel contamination.

[wilder]

[It's okay Vas, it's nothing you did. He's just got grudges and issues. It's a thing.]

It's more than I can do.

Just lemme know when you wanna go, I'll take ya.

[She nods slowly, still a little surprised by how bitter he sounded.]

I will talk to you when this gathering is over. This needs to be taken care of soon.
