[OPEN] The Redsworn Reception

Who: The Redsworn of Ruby Sanctum + Guests [OPEN TO ALL FLIGHTS]
What: Carolina The Redsworn have invited everyone to dinner! Let's see how well diplomatic relations between the flights can be improved, eh?
Where: The Ruby Sanctum
When: Forward dated to 6th June.
Warnings: Fires, food poisoning cooking for all, shenanigans, possible bad language.
OOC: Come gets some cross-flight CR! c: Some setting options below the cut, or go ahead and make your own.

A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS
Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE
The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

C: OPEN/MISC.
Choose Your Own Adventure! Just remember: wander alone at your own risk, non-redsworn, for the Red Dragonflight will have their eye on you.

So why do you hide it? Sounds like something to be proud of to me,
telaari: (the last of my fucks to give)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-08 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[She looks Rose in the eye, straightening herself.]

I have been mistaken many times for a demon. By allies, by enemies, by people who later became our friends. I was not mistaken for a satyr by the Kaldorei - even the Dragonqueen thought I was one of those Man'ari creatures. Do you think it would be wise to explain what the Eredar are to all the Dragonsworn? Do you think they would trust me afterward?

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-08 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rose met that gaze and held it with her own.]

What do you think not telling us is going to do when we're fighting against the demons and some Eredar join the fight? Your allies are going to think you're one of them, having slipped into our ranks through our own ignorance and gained our trust with the intent of betraying us or killing us all in our sleep.

You are what you are, Big Blue. Be proud of it and don't hide it.
telaari: (not as planned)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-08 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[She snorts. It actually takes her a moment to realize that she snorted, and she turns her head away from Rose, embarrassed.]

That is something that could happen, yes. The Legion could also send out agents to cast suspicion on Valamia and I and divide our ranks, if I choose to tell everyone who the Draenei are. Or they could turn their full force upon Azeroth to eliminate a possible Exiles' world.

[She hangs her head, still clutching her arm.]

There are no easy courses of actions for me, or for any Draenei, Rose. I know the risks I run. But at this point, all that the other Dragonsworn would have is my word. I do not think that is enough.

They have my word, too. I've been inside your dreams. If you were one of them, I'd have known. I can be in there without you knowing I am, by the way.

[Which was something she wasn't one hundred percent sure was possible, but Vastania didn't know that.]

They have your actions, too. If there's one thing I know, it's better to be upfront about these kind of things than to hide them. Hiding them implies guilt. For God's sake, I asked the Queen D about the elves saying the dragons killed a lot of them and she won't tell me why. She won't tell me what happened without getting a consensus agreement from the other Aspects.

Does this face looks like it doesn't like knowing the score? And really, if anyone decides to give you shit for sharing genetics with the damn demons, I'll whoop their asses for being bigoted fuckheads.

[Any sudden anxiety she experiences about Rose secretly viewing her more... sensual dreams is washed away by her declaration of support. It's not the first one she's heard, or even the first one she's heard since she was dragged into this, but it comes from someone who has so little history with Azeroth and the Legion. Rose's opinions are not based on the purification of the Sunwell or Archimonde's march upon Mount Hyjal. She doesn't know about Tempest Keep or the Lich King, or any number of events that would shape her opinions. Just her word... and her dreams. She lifts her head up and lets go of her arm, standing tall.]

... Thank you, Rose.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-08 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing Rose doesn't know about that anxiety because she has no desire to see how draenei get it on. The tentacle-tendril things sort of freak her out if she bothers to think on them, so she makes a point not to. Vas can keep those dreams to herself.]

I have no idea why you're thanking me. It's just what's right. And I won't be the only one that believes that.

So what's with that floating light fractal thing you worship like its God?
telaari: (What no)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-08 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Where and when did Rose learn about the Naaru?, she wonders. Must have been in a dream. She's never been tight-lipped about them, but she can't remember actually describing what they look like.]

They are not gods, they are Naaru. They are beings of pure Light, and they are why my people have not been driven to extinction.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-08 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yup, a dream about rampant elekk. So weird.]

Of course, they're not gods. There's only one god - God. Anyways, it still looked like you worshiped them.
telaari: (What no)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-08 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
What? No, no, there are many gods. They just belong to other people. We have no gods.

[Which she realizes, half a second later, isn't really all that helpful.]

The Naaru are our mentors and our friends, and we owe them our respect. They taught us the ways of the Light, and continue to guide us on our path.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-08 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rose's Christian upbringing wanted to argue that, but she wasn't devout enough to bother.]

Okay. So what's the Light? [ASKS THE PALADIN.]
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-08 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fortunately, she's taken on a student who had no idea what the Light was before she explained it. She's started to prepare her own little lectures on the Light.]

The Light is creation itself. Where fel magic destroys and corrupts, the Light creates and purifies. People who have been blessed by the Light use it to purge evil from the universe.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-08 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like Spirit, to me. [pause] Spirit's the fifth element and rarest magic Moroi possess. Those that specialize in Spirit are often seen as saints... or lunatics.

I'm also alive because of Spirit.
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-09 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
I have never heard of this "Spirit", but it may be a facet of the Light. In any case, any magical force used to fight off the Legion is one which I would be happy to have on my side.
theshadowkissed: (Default)

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-09 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I can't use Spirit. I'm a dhampir. We don't have magic like the Moroi. We're beatsticks, really. Guardians. I'm just alive because a Spirit user brought me back from death before I fully crossed over after a car accident.
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-16 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
[She squints at Rose, one brow raised. Car accident? As in a tram car?]

Light or not, that is a miracle in and of itself.

[She taps a finger on her chin absentmindedly - wait, there was something she needed to discuss with Rose, wasn't there?]

Oh! I spoke with Krasus after I returned from Sin'thalas. He is looking into re-establishing ties with the Kaldorei. He believes that you might be able to help.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-16 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Me?

[Rose was all for making the elves stop hating her, but a dragon mage that wasn't her own specifically bringing it up? Made her wonder if bitching Alexstrasza out would make him change his mind.]

I'm all for ways to not get stabbed in the face for merely existing. But I'm not exactly the kind of person someone goes to for delicate things.
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-16 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[She tries to smile reassuringly, but it ends up being more like a feeble grimace.]

He did not elaborate on why he thought so. I trust that he has something in mind, though.

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-16 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
He's your dragon mage. Let him know I'm game whenever he wants to, like, talk and stuff. I think I'll kick mine awake sometime and see if he's got like Kaldorei Hooked on Phonics or something. I'm crap at learning languages - my Russian is shit - but it'd be nice to know what the elves are saying when they insult me.
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
If you can learn Darnassian, even a little, it would be a great help. The guards were surprised when I started to talk to them, but they were still willing to talk. Using their language might put them at ease.
theshadowkissed: (Default)

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-16 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Dragons should know this stuff, right? That's what old people do - learn new stuff and compile languages.
telaari: (What no)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-16 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Again, she gives Rose that puzzled look.]

If they actually use them, perhaps. My father was as old as the Flight from Argus, and I don't recall him ever speaking Raventongue.
theshadowkissed: (Default)

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-16 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Just because you didn't hear him speak it didn't mean he didn't know it. How often would that have been needed anyways?
telaari: (Portrait)

[personal profile] telaari 2014-06-16 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. My family lived in Nagrand, not Shattrath. Only the traders bothered to learn the native languages, anyhow.

... but I digress. Your Dragonmage probably does know Darnassian. It's an old language. And the Kaldorei revere the Emerald Dream.
theshadowkissed: (Default)

[personal profile] theshadowkissed 2014-06-16 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Great. They revere the Emerald Dream, yet they still want to stab its keepers in the face. Makes total sense. [/sarcasm]
