[OPEN] The Redsworn Reception

Who: The Redsworn of Ruby Sanctum + Guests [OPEN TO ALL FLIGHTS]
What: Carolina The Redsworn have invited everyone to dinner! Let's see how well diplomatic relations between the flights can be improved, eh?
Where: The Ruby Sanctum
When: Forward dated to 6th June.
Warnings: Fires, food poisoning cooking for all, shenanigans, possible bad language.
OOC: Come gets some cross-flight CR! c: Some setting options below the cut, or go ahead and make your own.

A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS
Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE
The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

C: OPEN/MISC.
Choose Your Own Adventure! Just remember: wander alone at your own risk, non-redsworn, for the Red Dragonflight will have their eye on you.

"...because things take a while to cook and two minutes is really fast," Rose replied. "Normally, you're talking like thirty minutes to make something. But sure, go ahead. Show me your cooking magic."

Mar pulled a venison steak from their supplies, salted its outside with a few swift motions, then dropped it on the grill left to heat over the fire. As it sizzled, he dug into the bag she'd brought, coming up with a few nuts. These he cracked open with a squeeze of his fingers, then discarded the shells into the fire.

At that, he drew his cooking knife and used it to flip the steak.

His chef knife, though sharp and keen on its blade, had a wide back which he used to crush the nuts with a few quick blows. Scooping up the fine pieces, he sprinkled them over the top of the steak, then pressed them in with the flat of the knife, making the meat sizzle but not ooze juice. The salt and the heat of the grill had seared in the juices.

"How done would you like it?"

It was fascinating to watch. Also, the question was a bit of a surprise. Though it kind of made sense that even in Medieval Times, people wanted good tasting food.

"Medium rare. Anything over medium should be a crime."

Hey. Trained chef. Pandaren-trained chef. Taste was paramount.

For a few long moments, he tapped the back of the knife against the grill as the meat sizzled, counting down the seconds. Then his free hand snaked out to grab a large piece of bread that served as a plate. With a swift motion of the knife, he transferred the sizzling venison to the bread, then offered it to her with a flourish.

"Behold! Medium rare venison steak in under two minutes, and far superior to your Valley Dinner, I assure you!" (Mar had mistaken the "V" in "TV" for the Valley in "AV".)

That was... fast. Like ridiculously, unrealistically fast. If she got sick from this, she was going to punch Maridian in the face.

"Thanks. Smells wonderful." Which was true.

She took the food and let it cool a bit before taking a bite. And it tasted like it smelled. "Mm... very good. Thanks."

Hey, that had been particularly slow. Normally he could whip something like this up in ten or twenty seconds! Adding the nuts had slowed him down.

"It's not much. If I had better ingredients, I'd feed you something so tasty they could knock you down with a feather. From a reasonable-sized bird, not some giant doom bird, at that."
