Welcome to the City of Artists. [OPEN]
Who: Greensworn and you
What: Befriending Derenaar
Where: Derenaar and surrounding areas
When: July 12-20
Warnings: bad Darnassian grammar, possible demon killings
[OOC: This post is for any and all interaction with Derenaar and the Greensworn helping the elves from scouring demons to rearranging the greenery to other daily quests up to and including showing other Dragonsworn around. Please remember to add your tag to the post.]
[When the Greensworn arrived at Derenaar, they weren't entirely sure what to expect. Were these elves going to be like the Sin'thalas elves and wish their destruction because of some grudge against the dragons? Or would they be more like the elves of Silverglen Retreat, willing to allow them access and trade but stay distant? What they hadn't expected was - after a lengthy conversation in Darnassian between Rose Hathaway and the elven leaders of Derenaar - to be welcomed in with open arms to the city.
With it being better than initially expected, the Greensworn set about proving themselves by helping out in Derenaar. It seemed a bag of demon heads and a few Kaldorei druids that still honored the Green Flight went a long way.]

They don't have to worry. I don't believe I'll stay away from Silverglen long if this is the reception I can expect here.
[Sighing, he tucks the herbs away back in his pack but flashes a quick, grateful smile afterwards.] But thank you-- Rose, is it? I appreciate the... Timely intervention.
[There's a question in his voice. Surely she just didn't happen to be in the area, not when she's apparently on-hand for the elves to go fetch for help whenever something steps foot over their borders. There must be a reason she's here.]

[Rose hears that question and mulls over how exactly she wanted to answer it.]
This is Derenaar, by the way. My flight's established really strong relations with these elves. They respect what the Green Flight does in this world, so they let us in. I've managed to get them to understand that the dragonsworn are here to help against the Burning Legion, so they're probably going to let other flights pass through, but you see how they get when they can't understand what you're saying.
So just walk softly and don't stay long when here until I can make things better for all of us. Okay?

Careful, he has to remind himself -- you haven't lasted these past few millennia by challenging every display of idiocy you're subjected to. It takes considerable effort to keep his smile from slipping, but hey. At least he didn't start a fight.
His nod is imperceptibly stiff.] Of course, anything to help.
It's good work you're doing here, I must say. [He waves his hand. The airiness in the gesture masks the maliciousness hidden deep, deep beneath his words.] I was just thinking it was high time the other flights started doing something to make friendly with our neighbours.

I hope you can understand that it will take time before these elves are willing to entertain the idea of another flight walking freely through their streets. I don't want any conflict.

Have any other Dragonsworn been causing trouble? Or am I the only one receiving this speech? [His little laugh says it's not a problem, he understands, he's simply being flippant-- but no, really. Is there a reason he's being reminded so much not to cause any conflict? Anything he should be concerned about other people knowing (or believing?)]

Not yet and I just want to make sure of it. So far, any other dragonsworn that has wandered this way I consider friends, so I know they won't do anything. I don't really know you.
Don't worry; there will be others told the same thing if they come this way. The Derenaar elves expect me to be clear.

I'd hoped to rectify that sooner, but I do have a tendency to get caught up in my research sometimes. [He rests his hand on the pack at his side. Unless he's got a bunch of book-shaped herbs in there, plants aren't the only thing he carries with him, apparently.]
And I'd hoped to do so under better circumstances, too. Such as... Somewhere where you don't have to rescue me from territorial elves. [He cants his head.] Perhaps another time? You're always welcome at Silverglen, and I should thank you properly after all.
[And he should have a chance to pick the brain of the whelp calling herself leader of the Greensworn.]

[Her eyes flickered to the pack, seeing the books.] I'm certainly interested in your research. Those books have to be more captivating than dreamfoil.
i guess assume this takes place sometime after your option b then o7
I find everything captivating, although plant life -- the study, the engineering of it -- has always been a specialty of mine. [Qilby glances upwards behind her, where the branches of an unnaturally-tall tree crown over the rest of the foliage surrounding the elven city. He's been here long enough to recognize a tree shaped by men's hands -- Greensworn hands -- when he sees it.
With a small motion of his head at the structure, he indicates as such.] Sometimes I think I was assigned to the wrong flight.

But I should let you get back to your herb gathering. See you around.

An arch look. His smile doesn't quite reach his eyes.] Is that right? I suppose if you ask very nicely, they'll even give you a piece of candy.
[Looks like this "friendly" conversation's over. Qilby turns his back on Rose and checks his bag to make sure everything's in order. Reagents, precious notes-- looks like it.] Take care, Greensworn.
[And he means it in every sense of the word. With that he flings up a portal, steps through, and a second later he's gone.]
no subject
Once gone, she waited a couple seconds to make sure he was gone before heading back to the city. One of the elves joined her, asking her questions she really wasn't in the mood to answer. Hopefully, Qilby would stay away and make Rose's life easier.]
