[OOC: This post is for any and all interaction with Derenaar and the Greensworn helping the elves from scouring demons to rearranging the greenery to other daily quests up to and including showing other Dragonsworn around. Please remember to add your tag to the post.]


[When the Greensworn arrived at Derenaar, they weren't entirely sure what to expect. Were these elves going to be like the Sin'thalas elves and wish their destruction because of some grudge against the dragons? Or would they be more like the elves of Silverglen Retreat, willing to allow them access and trade but stay distant? What they hadn't expected was - after a lengthy conversation in Darnassian between Rose Hathaway and the elven leaders of Derenaar - to be welcomed in with open arms to the city.

With it being better than initially expected, the Greensworn set about proving themselves by helping out in Derenaar. It seemed a bag of demon heads and a few Kaldorei druids that still honored the Green Flight went a long way.]

If you ever say that, the draenei will be mortally offended, no matter how true it is in practice.

Oh? And why's that? Sounds like there's a story there.

An extensive one! Perhaps one not best told while you're actually... doing important things, you know. Not that I haven't been keeping you from it, but if it might be more politic to meet up later...?

Stories are better told over a meal anyways. Are you going to be in the area long?

As long as it takes when a lovely lady is asking me to dinner! [He bows so grandly, he can't be entirely serious.] Though I warn you, I know a phenomenal amount of Azerothian history and culture, so if you ask me questions on that subject, you had best be prepared for answers!

I think I can handle you, bucko. [Rose laughed a little. As crazy as Maridian was, he was also fun to be around. Even if it did make her head hurt sometimes.]

How about you meet me in town in about... [She glanced up at the sun to approximate time since her gauntlets covered her watch.] Five hours? Just don't go causing problems or I'm going to be forced to kick you out. And I really don't want to have to do that.

Handle me? Is that a threat or a promise? [He grins, cocking a finger at her with such smarm that he can't possibly be serious. But who could turn down the opportunity for that line?]

I'll see you then, with the promise of seeing you as a guarantee of my good behavior.

You'll just have to find out. [Rose could dig the non-serious flirting. It was harmless, in her opinion.]

Get going. I'll see you later.

[Totally harmless. Mar pretty much counts on a complete lack of success in his flirtations, much as he counts on the occasional sunrise.]

[On that note, he salutes by drawing a fist up to his chest, then turns with a cheerful wave as he heads back to his business. In five hours, she'll find that he has a pretty darn decent sense of time.]

[And Rose had taken the time to change out of her armor into the more comfortable jeans and leather jacket.]

Did you order yet?

[Yeah, Mar just doesn't change out of his armor. Apparently ever. On the other hand, he wears the stuff like a second skin, apparently unaware that a massive suit of armor ought to inhibit his movements in any way. And he looks pretty cool in it, right?]

Why, of course not! What discourtesy would that be to you?

[In fact he rises and bows in courtly greeting to her, just to cement the whole 'courtesy' thing.]

[He also stands out like a sore thumb at the tavern, but he tended to stand out like that anywhere, cool armor or not. Rose, personally, didn't like plate, preferring mail, as the plate made her feel a little claustrophobic for some reason.]

You take that whole chivalry thing and kick it up ten notches, don't you?

[She took a seat.]

Only so long as it doesn't annoy you. [His answer is completely candid and totally self-aware. Back down he sits, folding his hands on the table with some satisfaction.] I'll try to keep the shameless flirtations from coloring my narrative.

By all means, continue shamelessly flirting. It makes a girl feel good. And I'm the type that will tell you when you're getting annoying.

[Quite possibly with a punch to gut, but sometimes she remembers violence isn't always the answer. It's just usually the fun answer.]

[Well, if she wants to punch the shiny armor...]

Keep being both pretty and interesting, and you'll find I won't be able to stop!

[Don't tempt her. She's willing to punch dragons in the nose!]

I can't exactly stop being pretty on my own, so no need to worry about that.

Oh, you could if you wanted to, or at least conceal it. But I'm certainly not here to encourage you to do that -- I'm here to ramble on about Azerothian history, or from your perspective, a future that is not quite meant to be in this timeline!

Are you sure it's not meant to be?

[Rose flagged an elf down and, in somewhat broken Darnassian, ordered something to eat and drink.]

[Thalassian has its roots in Darnassian, but that didn't make Mar's efforts any better, just worse in a different way. Still, it's enough, and that's what counts, right?]

[Finished with that, he settles back in his chair slightly, regarding her with a slight, thoughtful frown.]

Sure? Of course not. How can I be? But aside from every other fact, I think that one of the five Aspects would have commented on the fact that I'd been in this past as a Dragonsworn, in the course of my dealings with them.

They're not exactly a talkative bunch.

[seesbosscrotch]

Oh, you think that, but you should have heard Malygos. [Mar shakes his head, remembering just how eager the blue dragon had been to rant against them.] Also there's a few incidents with saving Alexstraza's life and an encounter or two with Deathwing. I really feel it would have come up.

Maybe they just don't remember you. They all seem to have little care for us non-dragons. [She shrugged.] Or maybe the past you went into before was a different past than your Azeroth's.

Time travel seems like something that's not exactly supposed to make sense.

I do know as fact that timelines can diverge, and alternate timelines can be created. I went to one, some untold years in the future when -- [He pauses, then rephrases quickly] When the Cataclysm had come to pass, and vengeful spirits of Azeroth's mightiest souls roamed the shattered remnants of the world. We prevented that one from coming to be, though.

[Rose gave an involuntary shutter in response to 'vengeful spirits'.]

Glad you stopped that one. But I guess time being like a giant stream makes some sort of sense. The things I'd change if I could go back in my world...

Could very well doom your world. [Mar points at her as if to cut off that line of thought physically.] The very goal of the Infinite Dragonflight is to undo acts of history that made it what it is, even if stopping those acts seems noble.
