[A. Silverglen Retreat. OPEN TO RED, BRONZE AND GREEN FLIGHTS.]

[It seriously hadn't taken long for Zelos to be sick of hanging around the Sanctum and training all the time. Being kept somewhere for his safekeeping had never sat well with him, after all. So he worked on learning about the other areas from the dragons. Sure, most places in the area seemed to want to happily kill him- but it sounded like Silverglen Retreat would be alright for a first stop!]

[Especially if he wanted to get food that wasn't flame-cooked bear meat.]

[And so, ignoring warnings of how it was dangerous outside, he headed out to Silverglen Retreat. He made it there without incident, and once he proved he was a Redsworn, he was allowed in with only wary staresm - which was something he was used to anyway.]

[His hair probably makes him for an easy person to spot in the marketplace, and currently he's wandering the stalls trying to figure out how to get supplies in a trade-based economy when your life skills are well, limited, to say the least.]

[B. Forest outside Silverglen Retreat. OPEN TO ALL.]

[Eventually it seemed some elf decided to throw him a bone (or just get to stop hitting on their daughters for stuff) and made an arrangement that if he brought back a number of stag flanks- they'd give him some supplies he needed. Which hey, he could do that! He could fight, so that shouldn't be a problem, right?]

[Except, for one problem your character might come across, as he kneels over a stag that's clearly been killed by fire and sword cuts - a look of frustrated confusion very clear on his face]

Damn...where's the flank again?

[AND YES EXCELLENT PLAN. He wasn't paying close attention, but tunes in again when Genis pipes up. He looks over at it]

Oh yeah, that looks like enough books.

[He heads into it and sure enough, there are several shelves of books around. Maybe not an extreme amount since it's a small town, but hey- it's still a good collection]

[ SUPER EXCITED NERD KID COMING THROUGH.. genis barrels forward like an excited little bull, charging past zelos and toward the book shop - library? - whatever it is.

look, he just really likes reading ok. ]

SURE SOUNDS GOOD

Whoa- [Zelos jumps out of the way of the charging of the bookworm, mildly surprised. HE KNEW HE LIKED READING BUT WOW MAN]

[But whatever at least it's kinda endearing. He'll smirk and shake his head to himself, before following after in after a casual pace. He'll be looking around the books while Genis frolics and gets his stuff, but you know, in a more reserved manner cause he's gotta be cool and adult like that]

[ NPC THINGS BLAH BLAH BLAH METEOR STORM genis has managed to trade off that silk for a decent amount of books YEAH, and useful ones at that.. oof but wow they're a little heavy

BUT THAT'S OKAY because he's used to carrying heavy books so.. a few of them fit into his bag, at least, but he has to carry one or two in his arms and now where did zelos get to..!! luckily he's not exactly hard to find, this place isn't very big and zelos stands out like a sore thumb.

[ even though the book dude kind of gave him a hard time.. ]

[Zelos was looking a shelf, deciding what book to maybe come back to get later while trying to keep a tab on the bookseller's attitude from afar. Wow, talk about a jerk. But oh well, least Genis looks happy with his...many books]

[Seriously kid how many did you get]

[ not enough is the answer, really. and yeah a big dumb nelf jerk, but genis managed.. sort of. at least he's got experience with this sort of thing, sadly enough, and he's pretty sure he gave the guy at least one accidental dirty look but - look, at least he didn't cause a scene, okay? even genis understands the importance of diplomacy. more than most his age. ]

Nope. I would take this whole store back, if I could. But for now.. [ glancing down toward the books in his arms. ] .. it'll do.

[And that's good! Frankly it's doubtful Zelos would've been much better at age twelve so- good for you Genis! Four for you!]

[He makes an amused noise] We can always come back later.

[As for now Zelos is just reaching down to- oh not help, but just to grab the top book from his pile to see what it is. Because what is privacy and personal space really? It sounds silly]

[ RUDE ZELOS genis pulls a face when he snatches up the book, but it dissipates quickly. it's nothing terribly interesting, unfortunately.. just a slim book of geography and maps. ]

I thought it'd probably be useful. It's pretty out of date, though..

[LAME. But oh well, he'll flip through it to look at the maps anyway]

...Yeah, any idea where we are on this map?

[gravitywell]

[ genis has to stand up on his tiptoes to crane his neck and see the map zelos is looking at, but then he frowns, thoughtfully. ]

I'm not sure.. I think, maybe, around here-ish.. [ circling an area on the paper with his finger!! he'll have to ask dragonmama about all this.. ]

[wilder]

[He stares at where Genis indicates. As if staring will actually help. But yeah, the entire map makes no sense to him since he recognizes nothing]

Huh...okay. So...in between the mountains? Okay.

[More looking. A lot of these are propernouns he could only hazard a guess at how to say them, but there's a term that's more readable that stands out]

A Well of Eternity...? What's that?

Dunno. Sounds cool, though.

[ genis glances down to the other book in his hands, then lifts it to show the cover - old, worn leather with embossed letters that read only: A HISTORY. it's looking a little worse for wear, but it's nice and thick and juicy, no doubt!! ]

Maybe the answer's in here!

genis groans under his breath though because wow why is he having to do the work!! ]

You can read too, yanno.. [ muttermutter, but he wanders on over to the nearest table anyway, to plop the book down and crack it open. shh he's actually happy to be reading again even though he's bitching ]

[ unfortunately he DOESN'T HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS.. which is the real shame here. but he'll be figuring it out soon. genis flips through yellowed pages, skimming tightly cramped paragraphs with his fingers.

normally, he'd rather start at the beginning and read through thoroughly, but for the sake of finding out this specific bit.. ]

Hmm.. night elves.. [ mumble mumble ] .. Kalimdor.. hmm.. [ mumble mumble ] .. oh! Here -- the Well of Eternity is a lake infused with.. woah! Arcane energy, so, magic ..

[ he's just talking out loud to himself here now really ]

[That's okay it still beats looking up himself. He'll wait patiently for Genis to find it.]

Maybe...it's gotta be pretty powerful with a name like that.

[He's impressed but yet there's a frown on his face as he thinks back on some words that Vastania told him about the demons...]

[ to genis, and probably to zelos, too, it doesn't sound entirely far-fetched. i mean, the mana tree is more or less the same thing, so to speak, and while he's come to realize that mana and arcane energy aren't exactly the same thing, the similarities run closely enough for him to be able to grasp the idea, more or less.

he leans forward, resting his chin on one hand, his brows furrowed as he skims the cramped words. ]

It's supposed to be.. near Zin-Azshari..

Assuming that place is still around, anyway.

at least sometimes when he isn't being stupid emotional ]

Well, even if it isn't, I bet that Well of Eternity is probably still around. There's magic everywhere. I wonder..

[ his gaze wanders now, to the ground and off into the distance, almost as if he's looking for something. ]

[He watches him, curious. Is this some weird half-elf thing going on]

Wonder what?

[ weird bluesworn thing maybe, but hey it's not really much different from the weird half-elf thing he does back home!! genis doesn't answer right away, he's busy in the zone --

checking for ley lines, that is. squinting until he can see them, feel them, like rivers of magic flowing through the land beneath their feel. and like rivers, they move, converge, but they all seem to generate from a specific area. after a moment, he lifts his head again, and points in a vaguely east-ish direction. ]

.. it's that way, I think.

Wow, you're seriously able to sense that from here?

[Damn. He knew a half-elf's mana sensing could be pretty strong, but even that was impressive.]

But if you're sure, I guess that's one direction we won't be heading in.

[THATS RIGHT NO MAGIC WELL FOR YOU]

Well.. heh.. [ okay he wants to take credit for being awesome, but - ] .. I can't really sense the Well itself, I mean not really. There's definitely a huge amount of power in that direction, but.. that's probably only because it might not be as far as we think it is.

[ but he points! down - ]

I'm just checking the ley lines. They move like rivers, you know? And rivers all have an origin point so.. it's just a guess. I might be wrong, there might be nodes or something getting in the way.

[He glances down at where Genis is pointing, and as expected, he sees nothing. Not even really sure why he looked at all.]

Maybe so, but it's a sound enough guess.

[And okay, he's done trying to see what he can- so he looks back down at the map book in his hand again]

Some Redsworn said that these Burning Legion guys usually need some big magical source or portal to have this many on a world. Wonder if this Well thing has anything to do with that.
