Quest Log: Suit Up!

Who: Dragon mages and dragonsworn.
What: You have been given a quest to infiltrate Sin'thalas and rescue your fellow dragonsworn. Also discussion of scrying orbs.
Where: The sanctums.
When: May 4th and ongoing for a week.
Warnings: Please PM the mods if needed.


Despite the chaos surrounding the disappearances of several Dragonsworn, your sanctum's dragon mage is trying to be calm about this. After a brief discussion behind the scenes with the others, he or she has returned.

"Gather 'round, I have some grave news. Several Dragonsworn have gone missing. We found them, but we are unable to rescue them by ourselves. It would look very bad if dragons were to attack a settlement. That is why we are asking you for help.

"Southeast of Suramar is a village named Sin'thalas. It is these elves who have taken and imprisoned the Dragonsworn. Whether you negotiate or use force to ensure the return of your brethren, it will not be easy. These elves are highly-trained and knowledgeable, far from the refugees you may have seen in the Retreat.

"In light of this, we have implemented a system to communicate over great distances." The dragon mage unveils a magical orb nearby, the perfect size for gazing. "This is a scrying orb. Approach it and think of Sin'thalas, and you will be seen and heard from the orb at that location. It also works in reverse. This should allow us to coordinate our movements depending on the flow of the situation.

"I urge you to think carefully about how best to retrieve your fellow Dragonsworn. You are yet a small force and highly outnumbered. We cannot afford to lose any of you."

[ooc: If characters want to use the orbs, lookingformore is now OPEN. Remember, orbs CANNOT connect from sanctum to sanctum!]

[Rose glances over at Morpheus and any other nearby dragons.]

Pretty sure you just insulted our entire flight.

[pouts]

[ Frowning intensifies. ] Nowi is a real dragon and now I'm not. What's insulting is I can't turn into one--but they know!

And yet, I'm pretty damn sure all these dragons [She gestures to all of them around] are real ones too. And they don't breathe fire. The reds can.

So, you're stuck turning into a tree instead of a dragon. Get over it, cause it isn't going to change anytime soon, and let's get back to what's important.

[pouts]

Being able to turn into a dragon is important to Nowi...

Oh! [ She stops talking under her breath as she raises a finger in thought. ]

I could transform into a tree and sneak in. There's a lot of trees in that area.

[theshadowkissed]

[Unfortunately, it's not important to Rose.]

That's a possibility for when it's time for infiltration. How big of a tree are you?

[pouts]

Bigger than I am now!

[ Which isn't much, but that's an accomplishment for Nowi. ]

Um, but I should probably admit something to you before we do that.

[theshadowkissed]

[She would hope the tree would be bigger. And better dressed.]

What?

[pouts]

Sometimes I turn into a bear too.

[theshadowkissed]

[Which is good for when they need to fight...]

And?

[pouts]

I have trouble shifting into one or the other.

[theshadowkissed]

Well... Think like a tree. Don't think like a bear.

[pouts]

[ Oho! ] What a great idea.

Quick, what do trees think about? The sun and water... maybe hoping a nice birdy family will build a nest and live in their branches?

[theshadowkissed]

Yeah, sure. Go with that.

[pouts]

I'm glad we had this talk--oh, but now we have to go back to talking about sneaking in.

[ Tapping her foot in thought. ] I could put you to sleep and you could try to enter their dreams.

[theshadowkissed]

I don't need to be asleep to enter their dreams. I know how to do that already. And we have to wait for them to be asleep first. So that has to wait until it's dark.

[She yells at Morpheus.]

Hey! Morpheus! Do you happen to have like a map to this elven city handy?

Why should we?

[ in true blacksworn manner, these are the first words out of riven's mouth; she scarcely waits for surion to finish speaking before voicing her protest. ]

Were any of ours foolish enough to get caught, we should leave them. And if they belong to another flight... [ she trails off. clearly, the issue with that should be self-explanatory. shouldn't it? ]

They have dwelled in the forest for some time, and dragonkind have kept to themselves. [He crosses his arms.] You have been visiting Silverglen; that may have grabbed their attention.

Regardless, contact with the elves is not a bad thing. I believe speaking to the leader of this village where they are being held is a necessity. Offer to trade and aid them, as many of you did with Silverglen Retreat. There is no need for weapons just yet.

We have always asked a lot, but we will not abandon you. If this is truly beyond you then we will find a way.

[Even if you act vindictive and patronizing, you're still a Red.]

Speak to them first. In my years, words have gone a long way toward dismantling political problems.

"Y... yes, I suppose that's true." Rose always did speak plainly but sometimes he wondered if she was a loose cannon in the waiting. "I do not know names, but they are all Dragonsworn, like you. I think not helping would look very, very bad. We should all be friends, in my opinion."

[mortalforged]

I think we can negotiate. I have never spoken to these elves personally, but elves are not unpleasant on the whole. The little druids are actually quite fun.

[A pause.]

... How do you make armor shinier?

[theshadowkissed]

"We're going to help." Yes, Rose just decided that for everyone. Try to talk her out of it. "I think the fact that we are going to help without any of ours being in danger is going to say a whole lot."

[ninjacques]

     Jacques somehow stands with his eagle, Hawk (yeah, he's not the best with names, so sue him), perched on his shoulder despite its size. He idly checks the tension on his bow gun, glancing up with a faint arch of a brow.

     "...about how many elves are there. Do we know...?"

[stormcalling]

[She'll stop being angry everything and be more Red. Eventually.]

My problem with the idea of speaking to them is that they are already willing to kidnap us. Not to mention if we approach with the desire to discuss their release, we have little to offer. Services we may have are likely all basic among them. The most we can offer is aid against the Legion which they may not take.

"It's a whole city. Probably bigger than Silverglen," Rose replied.

[Surion figured he would get this sort of response.]

Our numbers are already alarmingly small. Think of it this way: if we do not act friendly until we are in a better position, it is highly possible the other flights could unite and crush us in one fell swoop.

You should always hide your claws until the time is right, champion. Perhaps in time, a compromise can be reached... Either way, it took a lot of energy to bring you all here, and I would hate to waste it because of a fleeting moment of self-absorption.
