Quest Log: Suit Up!

Who: Dragon mages and dragonsworn.
What: You have been given a quest to infiltrate Sin'thalas and rescue your fellow dragonsworn. Also discussion of scrying orbs.
Where: The sanctums.
When: May 4th and ongoing for a week.
Warnings: Please PM the mods if needed.


Despite the chaos surrounding the disappearances of several Dragonsworn, your sanctum's dragon mage is trying to be calm about this. After a brief discussion behind the scenes with the others, he or she has returned.

"Gather 'round, I have some grave news. Several Dragonsworn have gone missing. We found them, but we are unable to rescue them by ourselves. It would look very bad if dragons were to attack a settlement. That is why we are asking you for help.

"Southeast of Suramar is a village named Sin'thalas. It is these elves who have taken and imprisoned the Dragonsworn. Whether you negotiate or use force to ensure the return of your brethren, it will not be easy. These elves are highly-trained and knowledgeable, far from the refugees you may have seen in the Retreat.

"In light of this, we have implemented a system to communicate over great distances." The dragon mage unveils a magical orb nearby, the perfect size for gazing. "This is a scrying orb. Approach it and think of Sin'thalas, and you will be seen and heard from the orb at that location. It also works in reverse. This should allow us to coordinate our movements depending on the flow of the situation.

"I urge you to think carefully about how best to retrieve your fellow Dragonsworn. You are yet a small force and highly outnumbered. We cannot afford to lose any of you."

[ooc: If characters want to use the orbs, lookingformore is now OPEN. Remember, orbs CANNOT connect from sanctum to sanctum!]

[She does a good job of hiding her smirk -- she and Valor had a bond most other people didn't understand, but she is certain Valor will do the talking for her.

And sure enough, the eagle seems to recognize that Carolina is talking about him. He caws and waddles over to her, nudging her nearby hand with his head, simultaneously opening his beak in expectation.]

We're used to this kind of work.

[he considers and nods. He doesn't know much about using animals for this sort of stuff other than Sheena's summon spirits, but it seemed like a good idea]

It's definitely worth a shot. The more we know, the better.

The sooner, too.

[ ...Well. At least one animal likes her around here. (Though to be fair, she'd kicked Wash's raptor in defense of him before realising it was a friendly.) The kevlar gloves and aqua armored gauntlet shift a bit, accomodating the intelligent bird with faint surprise. She's not quite sure what it wants - a pat on the head? To gnaw on her fingers? ]

If that's not going to be trouble for you, [...either of you, her glance says] I say send him now.

[Valor clamps a powerful beak down on one of Carolina's fingers, but more out of playfulness than aggression. He takes a moment to rub his head under the offered hand before a small click of Quinn's teeth gets his attention.]

Can do.

[Quinn holds out her arm, and Valor promptly takes the cue to flutter upward, perching on her gauntlet.]

I can try and use that orb Krasus was talking about to update everyone, but I've never communicated through magic before.

[he watches the bird, though keeping his distance. He's never been that good with animals and that guy looks like he could do some damage]

Heh, yeah...afraid I can't help you there. I've never used crystal balls in my magic.

[ Powerful indeed, though Carolina does not pull her fingers away. But he seems to like her well enough, and Valor gets a very faint smile before Carolina watches him take flight, admiring the wings before turning her attention back to the matter at hand. ]

We have long range communications, but not magic back home. [unless you counted forerunner artifacts, and she did not - and didn't have experience with those besides.] May be worth asking Krasus for clearer instructions, getting access to another closer by might be difficult if the other flights prove territorial in answer to this attack.
