A: COOKING FIRE SHENANIGANS

Feeling peckish? Have a delivery to make? Or just want to try your own hand at serving up some grub? The Redsworn's usual cooking area has been expanded for the evening, with two extra firepits dug out to cater for additional mouths. Over one fire burns the now "traditional" starter meat of bear flank, something any newly sworn (red or otherwise) will have the pleasure of sampling first. There's also several baskets of berries, fruit and vegetables, while a pot obtained in trade from Silverglen bubbles merrily.

B: FIRESIDE MINGLE

The redsworn of the Ruby Sanctum have claimed a corner of their own beneath one of the larger trees. There's a smaller fire here set for warmth and ambience, and have logs set about for seating for those who don't like perching on rocks or roots, or don't find the comfy grass comfy - park yourself and have a chat!

Yeah. [Her expression softened a bit so she wasn't glaring anymore.] He named his eagle Hawk. It's kind of funny.

[Naming swords after birds is one thing. Naming an eagle the name of a different type of bird is just ridiculous. At the revelation that he knew Jacques, Rose turned more of her attention toward him.]

Run into him before or are you two lucky enough to know each other pre-dragon yoinking?

Huh. Must be nice to know someone here. Must suck to be in different flights. What's your name and color? I'm Rose Hathaway.

[And thus it makes sense that Geddoe and Jacques would know each other. They probably can go days without saying anything to each other.]

Is everyone in your world as talkative as you two?

*one would think, though ironically Jacques is only the newest addition to Geddoe's team; the other three are considerably more socialable, so go figure, right?*

That's for the best. A whole world of people trying to do the whole strong and silent thing would be pretty creepy anyways.

What did you speak with the dragon about?

[Really, she shouldn't be surprised eyes were on her and Alexstrasza. It had been pretty clear Rose was upset and Alex was... uncomfortable. That was the best way to describe the dragon's general reaction.]

I wanted to know why the elves wanted to kill us. She knows why - all the dragons do - but isn't telling us.

Do you, really?

[Rose knows full well that 'i see' was a conversation filler, meant to prompt her to continue talking. In the past, she would've just continued to talk, but she didn't know how Jacques and Geddoe knew each other back in their world. It's not like her flightmate ever talked about himself.]

It's unfortunate, but no surprise. For all they claim to rely on us, the dragons barely pay us much mind, let alone be willing to cooperate.

I don't know about you, but I really don't like being used.

What matters is defeating the enemy, isn't it?

[theshadowkissed]

No, what matters is protecting those in my world I care about. It just happens that defeating the demons makes that possible. But I can't do my job if I don't know who all my enemies are.

We didn't know the elves were enemies because the dragons didn't feel the need to tell us they were responsible for the death of a whole lot of elves - enough of them to hold a nasty-ass grudge.

Were you counting on the elves as allies, then?

Considering the demons are trying to kill them and destroy their world, too, I was hoping we'd become allies or at least manage a truce.

[lightningbearer]

If the different flights can't all work together, who would expect anyone else to?

*not that he approves of any of this factionalism, but, well, he just finished fighting in a war that started with all sides at each others' throats before being brought here, so this scenario is a little too familiar to him*

Call me idealistic, but I tend to think a common enemy that gives no quarter and wants to annihilate everything is more important than political bullshit.

[This is the kind of thinking that got her into trouble with thee Court.]

Then fight as you can without worrying about what others are doing. Or do you plan to wait to do anything until someone comes to help you?

Of course, I'm going to fight. I have a duty I won't forget about. But it'd be nice to not have elves trying to stab me in the face for things I wasn't remotely a part of. And I can't work on the lack of face-stabbing until I know what actually happened.

Where the hell did you get that from?

I don't know about you, but I can multitask. I can and am fighting and killing demons while trying to figure this elf problem out. Or do you expect me to ignore that they accused Jacques - my flightmate - of doing things he hasn't, making life for my flight worse?
