[OOC: This post is for any and all interaction with Derenaar and the Greensworn helping the elves from scouring demons to rearranging the greenery to other daily quests up to and including showing other Dragonsworn around. Please remember to add your tag to the post.]


[When the Greensworn arrived at Derenaar, they weren't entirely sure what to expect. Were these elves going to be like the Sin'thalas elves and wish their destruction because of some grudge against the dragons? Or would they be more like the elves of Silverglen Retreat, willing to allow them access and trade but stay distant? What they hadn't expected was - after a lengthy conversation in Darnassian between Rose Hathaway and the elven leaders of Derenaar - to be welcomed in with open arms to the city.

With it being better than initially expected, the Greensworn set about proving themselves by helping out in Derenaar. It seemed a bag of demon heads and a few Kaldorei druids that still honored the Green Flight went a long way.]

Anything would be better than Eugene. And I guess being sucked to a new world where no one knew you is a good chance to reinvent yourself. Hope the name thing's been working out for you.

You mean aside getting dragged into two inter-dimensional wars? Yeah, it's been peachy.

[Seriously. Talk about bad luck]

So what brings you out here into the forest? Patrolling, gathering food or your flightmates just that annoying?

There are worse things out there. [Like being dead. Or undead.]

Now you've managed to come across me while on patrol. Most of my flightmates are nearby. There's this elven city not too far away called Derenaar. We managed an alliance with them, so I'm out here making sure no demons or trolls have come too close to them for comfort.

[wilder]

Yeah. Least I'm pretty.

[Because that'd be worse than being in a war]

Oh yeah? Good for you guys. What's Derenaar like?

[theshadowkissed]

If everything goes as planned, hopefully I can get the elves to like the rest of the flights. But trying to get these elves to change their minds on things is a pain in the ass.

This city is full or artists and entertainers. It's a craftsman's city. There's always something going on, if you can understand what they're saying.

[wilder]

[He snorts] Yeah, tell me about it. Where I'm from, elven stubbornness is stronger than any other race's. And considering what the others are like, that's really saying something.

[Seriously, still holding grudges from thousands of years ago man]

Hm, sounds like a fun place. I could see why they'd want to get protection from the Sworn.

[theshadowkissed]

I'm starting to think that any race that's expected to live for hundreds and hundreds of years is allergic to change and adaptation.

[wilder]

Yeah, seems like. Makes me sure hope I don't live that long.

[theshadowkissed]

Unless you're from a long-lived race-- [She stopped and tilted her head.]

I take it you're not human despite looking like one? I'm not either, but dhampir lifespans are the same as humans.

[wilder]

[Well that certainly surprises him. Enough that he can't even hide the surprise]

Huh? What'd make you say that?

You just said that you hoped you wouldn't live that long. Unless you're from a people who can live that long, it was kind of a pointless thing to say.

[Because otherwise, why would he bother saying it unless it was a possibility? She's never known a human, dhampir or moroi to say that offhanded. Because to live that long would mean becoming strigoi.]

[wilder]

Haha...what you know, someone actually observant.

[He calms down a little, but rubs his neck]

It's...complicated. I might live a human lifespan, I might live forever. Don't know which.

[theshadowkissed]

Never underestimate Rose Hathaway. It tends to bite you in the ass. [She waved her hand a little.] Though honestly, you and all the rest of us will probably just live until something kills us. I don't think we were chosen by the dragons for our penchant to sit and let life pass us by so we can grow hella old and die in a nursing home.

[wilder]

I'll keep that in mind.

[He gives a little heh]

Oh, I'm way ahead of you there. I've already died once and someone brought me back. But maybe you're right. Maybe it's just a matter of getting killed and not having anyone bother with the trouble again.

[theshadowkissed]

So have I. [pause] Died and been brought back, that is. I'm shadowkissed. But I'm not exactly going to expect to come back next time. And neither should you.

Gives us a better appreciation for life, sometimes, I think.

[wilder]

Shadowkissed?

[And he gives a little shrug]

Hey, don't worry. It's not like I'm trying to die. The first time was more than enough of a pain.

Something from home - hard to explain. [In truth, Rose wasn't sure exactly how to explain it.] Most of it doesn't apply here anyways.

So how'd you die? I was in a car crash caused by a drunk driver.

[wilder]

Hm, alright.

[He has a vague understanding of what cars were from his time in Exsilium, even if he has no idea how to operate one beyond SOMETHING WITH A WHEEL. Even so, he could see hazard a guess as to why it'd be a bad idea to be intoxicated with one. So, a little nod followed by a shrug]

In a fight.

I suppose a part of me would say that's a better way to die, but then there's the whole someone else actually, purposefully killing you think which doesn't sit well. Oddly enough, I'm okay with dying if it manages to keep Lissa safe.

[Which was why Rose wasn't rebelling against the dragons and their goal of defeating the Burning Legion. Stopping them here meant stopping them back home, which kept Lissa safe.]

That's my best friend, the Dragomir Princess and my Moroi.

[wilder]

[Zelos meanwhile keeps his face neutral on the subject. As if he's detached from it. He's not, but he feels it isn't anyone's business but his own and Lloyd's.]

It was a battle. If they hadn't killed me, I would've killed 'em. Can't blame them for not wanting to die.

[But he gives her a look. A slightly skeptical look]

That's nice, but I think she'd rather have you alive if you're best friends.

[theshadowkissed]

Obviously, and I'd like to continue being alive. But I'm a Guardian. We protect the Moroi and sometimes that means we end up dying to keep them safe. They come first.

[wilder]

That so, huh...?

[He rubs the back of his head]

You're nicer than me, then. I'm the sort that when it comes down to it, tends to look after himself.

[theshadowkissed]

It's not a question of being nice, Kane. It's a question of doing what's right. My people depend on the Moroi. Without them, we perish.

But you're not a Guardian, so I don't expect you to make the sacrifices I do.

[wilder]

[AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA- ahem, I mean yes. no sacrifices here.]

Heh, right or kindness- I doubt I'd do it.

But that's probably why you have the fancy title and I'm just a sword-for-hire.
