Quest Log: Suit Up!

Who: Dragon mages and dragonsworn.
What: You have been given a quest to infiltrate Sin'thalas and rescue your fellow dragonsworn. Also discussion of scrying orbs.
Where: The sanctums.
When: May 4th and ongoing for a week.
Warnings: Please PM the mods if needed.

Despite the chaos surrounding the disappearances of several Dragonsworn, your sanctum's dragon mage is trying to be calm about this. After a brief discussion behind the scenes with the others, he or she has returned.

"Gather 'round, I have some grave news. Several Dragonsworn have gone missing. We found them, but we are unable to rescue them by ourselves. It would look very bad if dragons were to attack a settlement. That is why we are asking you for help.

"Southeast of Suramar is a village named Sin'thalas. It is these elves who have taken and imprisoned the Dragonsworn. Whether you negotiate or use force to ensure the return of your brethren, it will not be easy. These elves are highly-trained and knowledgeable, far from the refugees you may have seen in the Retreat.

"In light of this, we have implemented a system to communicate over great distances." The dragon mage unveils a magical orb nearby, the perfect size for gazing. "This is a scrying orb. Approach it and think of Sin'thalas, and you will be seen and heard from the orb at that location. It also works in reverse. This should allow us to coordinate our movements depending on the flow of the situation.

"I urge you to think carefully about how best to retrieve your fellow Dragonsworn. You are yet a small force and highly outnumbered. We cannot afford to lose any of you."

[ooc: If characters want to use the orbs, [community profile] lookingformore is now OPEN. Remember, orbs CANNOT connect from sanctum to sanctum!]

I'm not saying that. [Light be with her, her patience for all of this is not going to last.] I mean, how can we spend time forging all of these alliances and hope to save them all? We need to be swift.

Hm. I'm afraid I don't know enough about those flights at their present time to know if they're a concern or not. I suppose we could try and send an envoy to each flight...
seesbosscrotch: ('sup?)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-05-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Which natives did you have in mind?" Mar said, glancing his way. "Unless you mean requesting aid from the dragons for translation?"
stormcalling: (You're trying to reconstruct your image)

[personal profile] stormcalling 2014-05-06 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Aren't they asking us to go because they'd be trying to kill the dragons on sight?" She'll shrug and shake her head. "...But if one of the natives would be willing to help us-!" They wouldn't be stuck trying to play translator all day.
wilder: (pain in the ass...)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-05-06 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"No, they're asking us because giant dragons attacking the village would be bad. But these guys can take on a mortal form like us, right? They wouldn't look anymore freaky than we would."

Besides, it'd be nice to know if things did go badly, they had a dragon nearby.

"It's something to think about. I mean, we could ask the elves from Silverglen, but there's no guarantee they've warmed up to us enough to help out."

And hell, for all he knows- they are a part of it.
seesbosscrotch: (cheer)

[personal profile] seesbosscrotch 2014-05-06 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"It... usually isn't difficult to tell when a dragon has taken on a mortal guise." Maybe for other people, but after running into so many, Mar had simply picked up a knack for it. "Asking in Silverglen isn't a bad idea, though!"
stormcalling: (Make yourself believe you did something)

[personal profile] stormcalling 2014-05-06 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
"They do have a few...give-away traits." They weren't the easiest to spot but they did exist. She figured the night elves could probably see through them as well. If Mar could...

"They aren't enemies, at least they haven't openly tried to be. We've managed some trade and talks with some of them. It's worth a shot to see if they'd be willing to aid us." It could save someone from getting shot with an arrow.
wilder: (You don't have a head injury do you?)

[personal profile] wilder 2014-05-06 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, it's worth a shot anyway..." But he chooses to go quiet again. He put enough input in, right? Right.
bloodpainter: (I don't think that's pawsible...)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-05-06 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"And we won't have any idea what they're planning until we can talk to them..." That worried her. It worried her because she knew a great deal about what could happen when someone made a plan and launched into it too hurriedly and without consulting anyone, no matter how good (or not) their intentions were.

"Do you think I might be able to catch them all before they leave for the city if I go for the orb right away? I don't think it's a good idea to risk anyone doing something foolish befur we have a chance to decide on something together, and the elves shouldn't notice me coming in as long as I'm careful."

Concern yourssself with thossse mattersss at another time, child.

[ Whether he was speaking to her or his daughter isn't stated, though he will stop to stand beside the newcomer. ]

[ she knows that for the non-answer that it is, and frowns all the more for it. should've expected as much-- that doesn't mean she wasn't still hoping for more. that's the kind of logic that led to noxus allying with zaun, anyway...

whatever. ]
Your advice is noted. [ but maybe not appreciated. ]

Heals were good. Rose never liked it when Lissa healed her - because it made the dangers of Lissa going insane that much greater - but that didn't seem like it was an issue in Azeroth. And having someone who can heal around when there were things trying to kill her was nice.

She glanced at the hand, a little surprised at the gesture, but simply gave Morpheus a cocky grin. "Don't worry. Rose Hathaway is on the case," she said before trotting off to find her flightmates.
wilder: (I'm just a weak lazy bum)

[he watches the bird, though keeping his distance. He's never been that good with animals and that guy looks like he could do some damage]

Heh, yeah...afraid I can't help you there. I've never used crystal balls in my magic.
raggedydoc: (making a clever plan)

[personal profile] raggedydoc 2014-05-06 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we're working with the other flights now, instead of against them, are we? That'll make a nice change.

[Forgive the sarcasm. He's a bit irked by the petty infighting between the flights.]

Is there any way to communicate with them before everyone gathers at the village, or do we just wander outside waving a white flag and hope for the best?
skystrikes: (♞ if we take this bird in;)

[personal profile] skystrikes 2014-05-06 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
Quinn has reservations about bring a child along with her, but she also recognizes the value of spirit. She and her brother had done quite a lot at a young age, after all. So she wanders over to Krasus (taking care to offer him a polite bow of her head) and Nepeta, focusing on the latter while Valor waddles behind her.

"I am going to scout with Valor to see what we are up against inside the City," she replies gently. "Do you have anything to offer to help us?"

He doubts the other flights want Apollo, either.

Not that he actually has anything against Apollo, personally, but if he was the hero type, he'd probably have ended up in a different flight.

"Personal strength, or that of our entire unit?" He doesn't ask what happens if his true strength is deceit. "I wonder, dear, what your 'true strength' is."

[He's about as slimy as a politician, for sure.]

Anything else, champion?
mortalforged: (LANADORMI)

[personal profile] mortalforged 2014-05-06 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Lana frowns.] I have always tried to foster such intentions.

The scrying orbs do not work between sanctums. You will have to meet outside.
mortalforged: (ZERIGOSA)

[personal profile] mortalforged 2014-05-06 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
Just one. Tempest is her name.

[She is trying to be taciturn in her own way, hands folded across her stomach.]

You have only just arrived. Are you certain that you are prepared, hero?
mortalforged: (KRASUS)

[personal profile] mortalforged 2014-05-06 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Krasus nods in return, his wispy hair scattering across the front of his cloak. "Aside from the orbs and my blessing, I have very little." He opens his arms. "If there are injuries, bring them here. I will see to them personally."

Dragonsworn are not separated by scale color and thousands of years of solitude. Some of you may even be from the same worlds. Most of them, I think, would be reasonable-- far less stubborn than dragonkin, at any rate.

[Seriously, no one outstubborns a goddamn dragon.]

If they come for the scrying orb placed near Sin'thalas, it may be a chance to open dialogue. The other dragon mages have been instructed with similar goals in mind.
bloodpainter: (Surprising development!)

[personal profile] bloodpainter 2014-05-06 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Nepeta turns to the new woman right away. "Did you hear what we were talking about? I need to get to the orb and contact the other flights as soon as possible, to make sure no one does anything silly. If you want, we can go together. I'm good at staying out of sight, even better since I got here."

As if to demonstrate, she activates her stealth ability by will alone, blending into the background so that she can barely be seen at all.
skystrikes: (♞ so i'm next to you;)

[personal profile] skystrikes 2014-05-06 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
The ability causes Quinn to grin a bit wryly -- she once spent months tracking down someone with a very similar ability. Valor immediately perks up and hops toward Nepeta to try and get a closer look, cawing and scratching at the ground to alert his companion that there was still someone there.

"Works for me," Quinn offers, nodding. Valor, however, continues to try and hassle Nepeta out of hiding. "C'mon Val, leave her alone."

[ Even though it has only been a handful of minutes since she's arrived, it feels as if something is off in the air. There's not many of the dragonkin here, she's noticed, but when she recognizes the one who brought her here? ]

We meet again!

[ It was inevitable they would, but at the time she was under the impression her new companion was going to be busy for a while. The thinned numbers here aren't all that noticeable to the woman who has yet to experience the other Dragonsworn, but it's as if she can feel the heavy cloak that wraps around their minds. It was something heavy, perhaps she could help? With a hopeful look in her eyes, she pinches the thick fabric of her dress to pull it up away from her slippers to keep from tripping on it as she approaches. ]

What is it that troubles you? [ Anyone else is free to recognize there's a newbie, but she might need more than a "Hey you!" to be pulled away from the task of acquiring Zerigosa's attention. ]
mortalforged: (ZERIGOSA)

[personal profile] mortalforged 2014-05-06 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Zerigosa probably couldn't run in this tight-ass cheongsam wannabe, but at least she's not tripping over her skirt.]

... Several dragonsworn have been abducted, [she murmurs, glancing away. It's obvious that despite her chilly demeanor, she feels somewhat responsible.] I am trying to think of a way to prevent such things in the future, but the outside of the sanctum is out of my control.

It is unfair to cage you here, to tell you not to roam and explore. The Blue Dragonflight has always encouraged freedom and curiosity. Yet this world is treacherous... if the remains of my flight are any indication.

"I have been trying to work with them to prove we're not so bad." And didn't that seem to be coming in handy right now? "We should assemble everyone who wants to come and move in a group to get them all on the same page."
