Who: Zelos and Redsworn
What: Zelos is bored, thus people suffer.

[Zelos had no idea demonic apocalypses could be so...dull.]

[Okay, maybe that was the wrong word for it. But to Zelos, it's felt as though he's done nothing but train, gather supplies and fight demons for the past several months. And what the only village being a complete boondocks and the fact he didn't get along with a lot of the other Sworn- he couldn't help but start to feel a little like he was going nuts from the repetition. Even in Exsilium he had a job, books to read and a roommate to harrass. Not to mention a bed and a shower. This was painful!]

[And unfortunately for the Sworn, Zelos's boredom had a habit of turning on others.]

[So for the people that hang around the Ruby Sanctum, they might be finding themselves to be the victims of pranks and little annoyances. Practicing your fire? It might suddenly flare up a little (never enough to be dangerous- just startling). Sitting under the shade of the tree? You may have to watch out for falling nuts. Set something down and walked away for a bit? Wow, how did it move ten feet into the bush? Or maybe you found your armor has been painted on! Or any other assortment of mostly harmless, but irritating things]

[Or maybe you got lucky and avoided Zelos's pestering. Instead you might just find him sitting by the lake, looking perpetually bored out of his mind.]

[She'll grin and chuckle. Clearly few people forget that someone her age has little to no shame. She won't ruffle his hair again...yet.]

I don't know what to be more surprised by. Being bored or it being your nature.

What? How's either surprising? There's not like there's a lot to do around this joint.

It isn't so much that there isn't a lot to do. [Although she takes a second to consider arguing that the Legion being on their doorstep is important.]

It's more that somehow, you have the time and energy to be bored! That is strange.

How's it strange? [THE HUMAN DON'T GET IT] It's not like my daily activities are riveting or anything.

[She'll raise a brow at him. YOU WEIRD HUMANS.] I do suppose you sleep a fair bit, don't you? I thought people needed a decent amount of food and sleep.

[If that was bait, Zelos wasn't taking it]

Sure they do. But I don't really consider that stuff entertainment without a bed or a food selection beyond "charred meats".

[SIGH. Don't be this way, Zelos.]

Uh-huh. Not that while I don't agree it's more that...hm. [She's going to sit down and fold her arms. She's terrible at approaching things in a subtle fashion.]

You aren't sick, are you?

Hm?

[He frowns a little]

I...don't think so? Why?

[She'll shake her head.]

Traditionally, skipping meals or eating them in private tends to be a sign of something wrong. It's not exactly my business if there is something wrong but...a person worries.

[Oh. crap. Someone noticed? He's careful not to react too much, but there's definitely the rubbing of his neck- glancing away]

Oh, well...

Don't worry about it. I'm not starving or anything.

[She opens her mouth to start scolding him before she remembers that it's not the best reaction. Hmm.]

I'll take your word. If you pass out though I'm reserving the right to scold you.

Heh. I won't pass out. [He gives a wave of his hand; fully willing to take advantage of her not pressing further] I know how to handle myself.

[She figures she should wait to pester him about it more, even if it is strange.]

So you say! If I had a crystal for every person who said that and ended up needing help, I would never need to work for the next ten thousand years.

Heh, well I'm afraid I don't have any crystals to give you, soooo you'll just have to take my word I won't pass out!

Fine! You know, I would settle for a drink instead of a crystal. All things considered a real drink would be wonderful right about now.

[He sighs wistfully] Oh yeah, I could agree with that. It's been far too long since I've had a good drink.

It's too bad the elves don't like us enough to share their drinks. I'd give quite a lot for one. Maybe someday we can get one.

I dunno- is Night Elf wine any good? When I think of brewers, I can't say I really think of elves.

The ones I had were fine. When you come from a race that lives for ages you learn interesting things. Sometimes it's how to make a good drink.

Hmmm, guess you got a point. Gotta numb living all those years somehow.

[She'll sigh.] Yeah, yeah you do. Being old isn't quite as great as some people think it is.

Yeah.

But don't worry! I don't think that's great. I'd hate to get as old as you.

I'd say you wound me but I can't blame you. If I knew I'd be this old I probably would done things a bit differently.

Like...what? Put a little bit of money in a bank, and live off the interest for all eternity?

Nothing like that. I had stable enough income. Hm. I think I would have retired from the military at a younger age. I would have adopted a child before I was so old. I might have even tried to work things out with some stupid Vindicator I know. Not huge differences but they sound nice.
