[Zelos had no idea demonic apocalypses could be so...dull.]

[Okay, maybe that was the wrong word for it. But to Zelos, it's felt as though he's done nothing but train, gather supplies and fight demons for the past several months. And what the only village being a complete boondocks and the fact he didn't get along with a lot of the other Sworn- he couldn't help but start to feel a little like he was going nuts from the repetition. Even in Exsilium he had a job, books to read and a roommate to harrass. Not to mention a bed and a shower. This was painful!]

[And unfortunately for the Sworn, Zelos's boredom had a habit of turning on others.]

[So for the people that hang around the Ruby Sanctum, they might be finding themselves to be the victims of pranks and little annoyances. Practicing your fire? It might suddenly flare up a little (never enough to be dangerous- just startling). Sitting under the shade of the tree? You may have to watch out for falling nuts. Set something down and walked away for a bit? Wow, how did it move ten feet into the bush? Or maybe you found your armor has been painted on! Or any other assortment of mostly harmless, but irritating things]

[Or maybe you got lucky and avoided Zelos's pestering. Instead you might just find him sitting by the lake, looking perpetually bored out of his mind.]

[Mar hasn't been around the Sanctum much this past month, truth be told, which means he's managed to avoid the pranks and mischief thus far. In fact, today is the first Zelos might have seen him in a while.]

[He kind of sticks out, because he's riding on a giant hunting cat.]

Kaneis! Perfect! Could I have a moment of your time?

[...Yeah okay the giant cat is new. He definitely stares at it a moment before answering]

...Sure, though I'm fresh out of giant balls of yarn.

No need for that! It's a loaner anyway.

[Mar brings the nightsaber to a halt nearby, then slings his legs over to slide off it quite casually.]

But it does relate to why I'm looking for someone! Since the whole idea of 'going off by yourself and not telling anyone' has been so roundly frowned upon of late.

[He raises an eyebrow, unable to resist the urge to joke]

Oh, so it an invite to ride your pussy? I dunno...you're not bad looking for an elf, but I don't think we have that kind of relationship.

[As you can see, he's a very mature individual. But he'll sit up more and actually ask seriously]

Seriously though, what's up? You wanna go fight more demons or is this just a heads up you're going somewhere?

I'm not bad-looking for any race. [Mar tosses his head, causing his glorious Sin'dorei hair to cascade.] But I just said it isn't mine. I spent a month grinding gems and cutting necklaces for the Silverglen elves to get the opportunity to borrow this thing. So now, yes, I am headed out on a mission!

[wilder]

You know, a rented-out cat hardly makes it sound less dirty.

[The gutter is strong in this mind]

A mission? To where?

If this Azeroth is anything like the one history speaks of, there are a number of other empires out there. Trolls, Nerubians, Quiraji... all of them about to be blown when the Well of Eternity finally detonates and the map is rewritten.

[He runs a hand down his face, briefly.] Not that I expect any of them to be friendly. All three races are pretty much omnicidal. But I can at least see if they're there, and if there's an outside chance of diplomatic contact, I might be able to make it.

[wilder]

[He considers. Other than what he knows about Nepeta, none of those races sound familiar at all]

So....you want to go out alone on a giant cat and try to contact three empires that have a history of being omnicidal on the off chance they wanna talk before they kill you?

Is that what I'm hearing right?

[seesbosscrotch]

[Mar thumps his chest proudly.] Hey, you're talking to the Wakener, I have a surprisingly good track record with this sort of thing!

...Seriously, I'm probably the best-equipped to manage it. Paladins are hard to stick down and trap, particularly when we use Divine Shield. That's why I worked my ass off to borrow the nightsaber -- I can outrun them easily enough once I'm on it.

[Mar shrugs slightly.] It'll be dangerous, but we need the information on what's out there. If, as I suspect, everything is at war with us, we need to be prepared.

[stormcalling]

[Good news is that Vala has a daughter and pranks is by far one of the easier things to deal with. It does make her miss home a bit more but such was the way she worked in her old age. Always reminded of those silly sentimental bits. Looks like she better go bug him in return. The first step was to go over to him ruffle his hair.]

I thought a trouble-maker would be making trouble for other people.

[wilder]

[Whoa hey a hair ruffle. That definitely surprises him and makes him pull back. Not so much as in a hatred of touch but dude, no one ruffles his hair]

What can I say? It's my nature! And I'm bored.

[stormcalling]

[She'll grin and chuckle. Clearly few people forget that someone her age has little to no shame. She won't ruffle his hair again...yet.]

I don't know what to be more surprised by. Being bored or it being your nature.

[wilder]

What? How's either surprising? There's not like there's a lot to do around this joint.

[stormcalling]

It isn't so much that there isn't a lot to do. [Although she takes a second to consider arguing that the Legion being on their doorstep is important.]

It's more that somehow, you have the time and energy to be bored! That is strange.

[wilder]

How's it strange? [THE HUMAN DON'T GET IT] It's not like my daily activities are riveting or anything.

[stormcalling]

[She'll raise a brow at him. YOU WEIRD HUMANS.] I do suppose you sleep a fair bit, don't you? I thought people needed a decent amount of food and sleep.

[wilder]

[If that was bait, Zelos wasn't taking it]

Sure they do. But I don't really consider that stuff entertainment without a bed or a food selection beyond "charred meats".

[Vas has somehow managed to avoid getting pranked... so far.]

[But it's hardly any secret that the paladin prays regularly, and in her prayers she sometimes enters a trance-like state. Very little seems to bother her in this trance, but who, really, has had the courage to test how deep it is?]

[One thing's for sure, though: when she's muttering to herself in Eredun, kneeling with her head bent down, she's not exactly aware of her surroundings. If ever there was a time to prank her, it would be now.]

[Oh this is one that Zelos has to think over. On one hand, even if he's not a believer himself- he tries hard not to make it difficult for people who are trying to practice their religion. Probably one of the few decent leftovers he had from his upbringing]

[On the other hand, she prays a lot. And he honestly wonders if she ever notices anything.]

[And so, while she's deep in the middle of one prayer- while sitting up in a tree, he might try throwing an acorn in her direction]

[The acorn bounces off one of her horns, and she hesitates. She opens one eye and picks up the fallen acorn, looks it over briefly, and sets it back down gently with a chuckle. Ahh, it's just the trees, nothing to get worked up over.]

[She resumes her prayer, apparently still oblivious to Zelos' presence]

[Wow she just...completely didn't suspect a thing. How about that.]

[He gives it another minute or two, before throwing a second acorn in the direction of the other horn]

[Now that gets her attention. Once is an incident, twice is... well, probably not intentional, since she doesn't think to look up at him. She glances around with a quirked eyebrow.]

[That's... odd. There isn't a breeze, and she's not sitting directly beneath a tree. How peculiar.]

[wilder]

[He meanwhile waits in the tree! He's not going out of his way to hide, because seriously, you are a pretty oblivious girl without him needing to hide it seems]

[She finishes the rest of her prayer, a little rushed. The Light may be Awesome, but getting hit by these mysterious acorns is decidedly not! Time to pack up and find some cover. ... Well, cover that isn't directly beneath one of the oaks.]

[She stands and holds out her hand, as if to check for more falling tree seeds.]

[Oh she's done with her prayer? Awesome, that makes the guilt of hitting someone pray go away completely!]

[So you know, aiming a few more towards her a moment after her hand is out]
